Yes, Pac's boxing ability was on full display in that fight, and I was impressed with it, but he didn't have blinding speed. He was slower than Floyd is at 147. As was said, Pac has quick combos, but Floyd pot shots a lot faster than Manny.
in a way, thats true that is why i prefaced my statement that fighters are faster in the lower weights. pac fought mab at 126 if i remember. at 147 he was a tad slow since he is carrying more weight but i think at 147 he will still be one of the faster fighters in town right now. but pacs foot and body movement vs diaz and dlh was really impressive imo.
true. because then again pbf is the naturally bigger fighter between the two and hence can carry more weight in his fights. with pacs height, built and overall bone structure, it would be foolish for him to fight at 147 against natural and prime WW. i think 140 is max for him and hence i expect him to fight with faster speed against hatton than what he did against dlh.
pac vs. barrera 1. pac hit mab w/ a 6-punch combo at a ring corner in probably under 2 sec. even a gif of that sequence is available all around the internet. i'll try to look for it.
Sometimes Im really under the impression that youre bluffing your way out in here pretending to know. Ask Nacho how fast Pac is?
People who don't like Floyd try to discredit them by saying he isn't that fast, he's feather-fisted, he's hiding a weak chin, his defense is very overrated and he is hittable, etc., etc. For a guy with so many deficiencies, he certainly did well for himself.
Pac is definately one of the faster fighters. 140 is a good max for him. He looked heavy at 140. Even so, his stamina and workrate were very good in the Hoya fight.
I think 135 is good for him 140 max. His speed and power won't be special at 140. I personally think Hatton is gonna overpower Pac and give him trouble with the quickness he has.
:good:good the guys is just 5'6 and half. sometimes, its truly a joy to see him fight. he has this raw aggression and ferocity which seemed to unsettle his opponents. the only one being to control it was em in the first fight in my opinion. despite the headbutt, i think em displayed a wonderful performance. hatton will be like the bull and pac the matador in their upcoming fight imo. it is quite sad for me that pbf did not go up against fighters wherein he is considered the underdog. withi his technical skills, such a sad point imo.
Nah, he just took his "Oscar was a corpse versus Manny" position a step too far. Maybe Oscar was a lifeless shell that night, but it doesn't mean Manny has "average" speed. No big deal.
as much as a pac fan as i am, i think this will be a truly competitive fight. 50-50. even thought before that it should be 60-40 in favor of hatton. pacs vaunted stamina will play a factor in this. whoever wins, i got a feeling that this will be an exciting fight. not some snoozefest like that pbf dlh thing. but in fairness to dlh, he was trying to engage pbf the whole fight.
hmm says.... you know what.... I kinda agree with the op. I was saying that too myself... It's not blazing fast but it's fast and clean.
Part of saying he's "not fast" though overlooks the fact that accuracy and precision reduce the NEED for wild speed. Hopkins is another case in point, and he never even had PBF speed. PBF is so sound technically that he almost never reaches when he throws, and most of his punches are designed to be short and crisp as part of his defensive philosophy. Think about the Hatton left hook, that thing probably didn't travel more than 18 inches, but the effect was immediate. If you're going to dive in face first half the time like Shane, or do a rooster imitation half the time like Roy, you'd better be damned fast. Now whether Floyd learned his style young and always had great speed in his back pocket, or never had "great" speed and shielded that with his style is worth a debate, even though in the end, the results make that discussion kind of silly. The conclusion I come to is that "blazing" isn't a strong enough word for the kind of speed guys like prime Roy and prime Shane had. You're talking top 15, probably top 10 ALL TIME at that point. That's covering a lot of years and a lot of fighters. I'm not calling Floyd "slow" if he doesn't quite make that group.
I agree, I do not really find his hand speed particularly fast, the guys you mentioned are faster IMO.
