Macman i agree with you that Floyd DOESN'T have to fight pac and i would much rather have him fight cotto or mosley than pac

BUT i wouldn't mind seeing pac vs floyd, former p4p 1 vs current, its a huge fight.

NO Mayweather DOES have to fight Pacquiao. If Mayweather beat Mosley and Cotto, Pacquiao would still be p4p. plus some PPL might have Pacman still over Mayweather for best of this ERA. Mayweather HAS to fight Pacquiao

neither pac or floyd need each other

floyd can clean out welterweight, beat a few light middles, an up and coming welter and he will be top 20 easily.

similar with pac, he can clean out 140, fight someone like a berto at 147, beat a few up and comers and possibly an elite 135lb fighter and he will also be top 20 easily.

One fight won't put him over Pac its a body of work and taking out p4p guys to the top from his first strap at age 19 down at 112 up to his demolition of Hatton. Pac has had a career defining fight almost every year sometimes every two.

Floyd will really have to make his next few fights count to get the longterm recognition he wants.
Just because a guy is P4P doesnt mean by you beating him makes you number 1 or give you a better body of work.
Remember Hatton saying if he beat Pac he would take his place on the throne. We knew that wasn't true right?

    Mayweather SHOULD fight Pacquiao.

Problem is that after JMM he will and should take a good rest and have a good camp. So it will take at least 4-8 months before he takes on Pac.

In the mean time all the haters will be saying that he is ducking Mosely. If Mosely loses his belt and earning power in the mean time, everyone will use it as an example of how Mayweather ducked Mosely.

Flip it all around and you will get why Mayweather is ducking Pacquiao. The man can't win!

Clean out WW would not mean hes better then Pac!! Have you guys lost your mind. say Clottey beats Cotto, to you telling me if Mayweather beats Mosley and Clottey you would put him p4p, or better then Pac for this ERA?? I dont see it. Mayweather-Pacquiao is for the world to see, IT MUST HAPPEN!! and it will

cleaning out means beating every top contender, so for example to clean up right now floud would have to beat cotto, mosley, clottey and berto.

Thats how I feel to. some of these guys say Floyd doesnt have to fight Pac, but if Mayweather went on to fight Mosley then it will be "Yeah it was a good win but why is he ducking the younger and prime Pacquiao" Its outta of control these days.

    Relentless' post was spot on.

PBF and PAC don't need to fight each other, and as I stated plenty of times they probably wont anyway.

And yes if PBF cleans up the welters and looks impressive beating JMM, he has a good claim to being the #1 PFP fighter(obviously that would depend on what Manny is doing in the meantime).

My guess is, Floyd is banking on dominating JMM and then claiming he is the #1 fighter because he did something Pac couldn't do. He will then ask for about 60/40 for the fight to take place, Manny will reject that and they will both go on a rampage trying to outdo each other.

Not a bad point really. Maybe Pacquiao should fight Valero or a world champion at light welterweight? while Mayweaher fights Mosley, Williams and Cotto?

The problem is that there is no way Floyd will beat all those three fighters. No way. So you know what, I'd rather see him fight Pacquiao while the fight is still hot.

As much as I love Floyd I don't think anybody below middleweight would beat Williams. He will beat Shane and Cotto though.

I think so also. At this stage it has to happen. Floyd has avoided all the welt title holders, so that means he has to fight Pac.. Had he fought them all I could see your point.
