Floyd knew that loss was coming. So he escapes the sport with his undefeated record. (Even though I felt that he has already been beaten twice) It's pretty sad really. He was ducking all of the best younger challengers in his own weight class, and now has to duck someone who is well over the hill. His legacy is not very strong based on what he has done, and who he hasn't fought. I always knew that he was too afraid to lose. He picked his way through his career trying to find the easy route. The last time that he fought Oscar, I don't think that Floyd did a damn thing outside of feather dusting Oscar's gloves all night long, and he knew that this time, with Oscar having a better gameplan he didn't stand a chance. So, he passes up a HUGE payday, and just goes ahead and retires because he was too afraid to take on the younger guys as well. He had nobody left to fight... but every reasonable fight out there was too risky for him.
I also believe hes alittle leary of DLH he knows with Floyd Sr in the corner and a adjustment or 2 and Oscar can take away Floyds precious unbeaten record which hes trying to protect. Why else would he suddenly back out of the $$$$$$ rematch hes been begging for ?
If its a joke and such a easy fight then why doesnt Floyd take his "easy" 20 million vs Oscar then retire ? Why ? Because its too much of a risk. All Oscar needed was one more round on a scorecard last year and Floyd has his first non victory. A more active and better trained Oscar could do it and Floyd knows it.
The fight will still happen. This is about as legit a retirement as the money he throws in clubs. :hey
Haters are going hate......lol. You are some ball washing pure D haters for real. I hope a pigeon shits on your eyeball or something.
You really think THIS fight happens ? I mean it could happen on Cinco De Mayo weekend in 2009 but you know Oscar will wanna fight a big name latter this year maybe a Mosley or Cotto/Margarito. Another loss which would be relastic agianst those dudes should kill the rematch but I suppose the key word is SHOULD :-(
I'm still expecting it this Fall. This is a "Front Page News"-wannabe. It's to help build the fight. Plus it puts him in the spotlight where he likes it.
Oscar doesn't need to be prime to beat Floyd. Oscar did dominate Forbes, and you could see the ring rust coming off of him every round. He was even working on a new style, had great stamina... and went all 12 rounds which he needed. Floyd was in for an ass kicking come Sept, and he knew it. Why the hell else would he turn down that huge payday? If he thought that it was going to be an easy win... he would have took it.
Most people don't think the first fight was close, and I'm sure Floyd knows he could win easily again. I don't take this retirement seriously, he'll be back soon.
Dude....it was FORBES...not some legit top WW or even Legit JrMW. Oscar got his faced marked up fighting a guy who might be small @ 140.
Well Oscar did take some shots man so of course theres a chance your going to look busted up remember a mans face wasnt made to be punched :yep Oscar gets marked up in most of his fights.
