It was nothing like Hopkins Calzaghe, where Hopkins landed a medium shot that caught Calzaghe off balance and finished things off with a push. Calzaghe was up at three and was the aggressor for the balance of the round. Mosley timed Floyd perfectly and landed a big shot (far from his best, but a hard shot nonetheless) that stunned him. A follow-up shot buckled Floyd's knees and forced him to put a death-grip on Shane's right arm. Floyd was ripe for the KO right there and Shane was unable to take advantage, or, more likely, figured the opportunity would present itself again, asnd so didn't give it his all. Floyd did show very good powers of recuperation, and, after the wakeup call, made sure he wasn't tagged again. From round three on, Shane was at first obsessed with landing the big shot, and later winded and frustrated by Floyd's pinpoint offence. It was a great performance by Floyd, but while Shane did not provide the proverbial blue-print for beating Floyd, he exposed a serious vulnerability in Floyd's defence. Shane is in general, a harder puncher than Pac, but Pac is faster and can hit harder than than the punch that shook Floyd. If they meet, by any objective analysis, Floyd should be favoured to outbox Pac. But he clearly fears the man and there's a reason for that. At the top level, much of this game is mental, and Pac has already gotten inside Floyd's usually calm head. If Floyd finds himself hanging on for dear life against Pac, he will not get away as easily as he did last night.
It's senseless to continue to hate on Floyd. He's the best. Just deal with it. All of this old man, he was gassed, he's shot talk about Mosley. Stop it. Mosley was beaten by a better fighter. Point blank!!!
Yea I think floyd got like a "c" on the chin test!! He didnt take them real well, in the first few rounds of the margo-mosley fight, tony was laughing and coming foward after monster shots from mosley!
If he wants to prove his whiskers, he has to fight Pacquiao and win. This fight has to raise some questions about Mayweather's ability to take a solid shot from a top level fighter in their prime. If an old Mosley can wobble him, he may be vulnerable.
Floyd stayed on his feet from both shots which to me says his chin is pretty sturdy. He held on effectively and prevented Shane from landing anything else. It's not about Shane letting him off the hook at all. Floyd was just that good tactically, even when hurt and that shows great presence of mind under extreme pressure.
now this is a HATE thread BUT it has good merit, Mosley never shook Cotto this bad when he hit him, and he was wearing Grant gloves I'm not so sure he beats Pac.
**** margo didnt start off as a feather weight either. Margo bigger and been eating them bombs his whole life shane is the hardest hitting welter out there he hits harder then pac pac is more accurate and faster so he gets there more often keep in mind pac on put away a guy that had his chin checked by a bad ass left hook who has pac put to sleep since?
if any thing its proved his chin is great shane for me is the hardest hitting welter and floyd took to huge shots and still came back
I sort of agree. I wouldn't say it proved his chin is great, but proved it's solid. He was able to take a good punch and still have the mental ability to quickly adjust and nullify Shanes offense. Was very impressive, many other fighters would have started running.
He agreed to the gloves Pac wanted during those negotiations. Of course he usually insists on Grant gloves because of his brittle hands, but it's not a show stopper for him.
After Floyd took that second right hand and started wobbling, I was like damn... he's gonna get knocked down. My initial thought was that Floyd was gonna recover, but instead he goes in and throws a leading right with no balance and shaky legs. That showed a lot of audacity.
