How do Floyd fans use the fight against JMM to compare to Manny? it was at a weight JMM never fought at in his career. Did anyone think it was anything more than a tune up bout? When JMM fought Manny it was below the weight that created Manny's legacy and is irrelevant. When Floyd fought JMM it was above the weight that JMM created his status. Not to mention the punches and angles Manny added in training since that fight. Clearly Manny earned his status by his 5 fights above 140 where he obviously is stronger, faster and much more comfortable and dominant. How about Hatton vs Floyd & Oscar vs FLoyd and look at Hatton and ODL vs Manny? Manny blinded them. Dominated them every second. Manny can place shots, use angles, take a punch from the best at 147. Believe it or not Floyd has yet to prove he is the best and he is only the best when he is not facing the best or facing opponents who are over 35, coming to a weight they never fought in their careers or off extremely long layoffs. How did anyone buy into this? HBO and marketing and the gift of gab. Makes sense it fell short and the undefeated American is the #2 P4P and Manny won fighter of the decade. If they fight it is the absolute lock of sports history that Manny will knock him out. Take it to the bank.
I would not say that Marquez fought Manny at an "irrelevant" weight, that's just revisionism... Pacquiao was considered a top pound-4-pounder by their second fight if not already the #1. He developed his right hand by then, and he has since improved his execution of gameplans by delivering perfectly angled punches, but in terms of the basic pacquiao formula it was complete by that second fight. Roach insists his best weights are lighter ones, and Marquez deserves the recognition for arguably winning those fights. That being said, Floyd's victory over Marquez cannot be compared whatsoever to those fights because of the 2-weight-class jump, the catch-weight violation, and the age factor, not to mention the style matchup. It's just not even debatable how the dynamics of the Floyd and Manny vs JMM fights can barely be considered similar; they are alike in name only.
I did not think Pac could stop Hatton, but I was fooled, same when he stopped Oscar and Cotto. Void? Not as impressive at all, no where nearly so.
As a Marquez and Mayweather fan, I never gave Mayweather credit for the win against Marquez. It was only a tune up bout at Marquez´s highest weight where he doesnt belong at all.
I cant comment on that fight untill Marquez fights somebody else at that weight, which hopefully, never happens.
marquez isnt floyd's greatest victory, but lets remember in the build up mto the fight there was a lot of people who thought jmm would pull it off, and floyd dominated him, absolutely dominated him. jmm thought he was better than he was, thought he could do what pac did, and failed miserably. his p4pm credentials are gone now. this fight did nothing to indicate how pac vs floyd might go, because pac has improved so much since then. but it did expose jmm's p4p credibiltiy
shows how much you know about boxing, manny earned his status above 140, erm what was the trilogy with morales and fights with barrera then? didnt that start of his legacy?yes it did, above 140 only enhanced it again shows how much you know about boxing doesnt it, you cant say that a fighter will beat another fighter just by gong off what they did to their last opponents. if you want to do that then compare ali to george foreman, common oppennets ken norton and frazier, ali went distance with them both and george knocked them both out. so if you want to use that analogy then go ahead go and learn the sport first:hi:
