It wouldn't have made a difference. I picked Manny to stop Cotto. Manny has to much hand speed and angles for Cotto. I still don't know why Manny would fight him at a catchweight when he fought Oscar at 147.
its simple...they evaluate each fighter differently and fight them accordingly....like roach said....shane came to him and said "you fought oscar at 147 why wont you fight me at 147" and roach said "yer not oscar"......they knew what they were doing and before some ******ed ******* comes in saying "but pac fought shane at 147"....this was way before they fought
dont matter no cus cotto got the big super fight and the catwieght king got stuck with bradley who? haha and he might pull th upset on pac too what makes it even more funny lol:deal
It's easy to say those 2 pounds don't make a difference due to the way Pac dominated Cotto. But you have to ask yourself this question: Why did Team Pac demand for Cotto to come down in weight not once but twice, especially when Pac didn't have a problem fighting Marg at 154? Cotto himself said losing weight, even if it's only a few pounds, had an affect on him. Are we to assume he's lying? I'm no expert but I suspect 2 lbs can be the difference between hurting someone with a punch and knocking him out. Marg was able to hurt Pac with a body shot whereas Manny shook off Cotto's (he punches harder than Marg) body punches like they were nothing. I don't have a problem with Pac fighting DLH at welterweight. I just think it's ridiculous to call it a spectacular win (many people do) even if it was Oscar's choice to move down in weight. That little man vs. big man argument is complete bull****. Pac was the bigger man that night, stacked with muscles everywhere on his body whereas Oscar looked like a broomstick and an old one at that.
Maybe it didn't make a difference against Cotto, but if not, then why request it. However, the weight made a huge difference against DLH. The reason Pacquiao was the underdog was because people expected DLH to have a significant size advantage. In reality, Pac was the heavier man in the ring. That tells you all you need to know about how badly drained DLH was. However, I do agree, that it wasn't Pac's fault, and that DLH agreed to it even though it was a poor decision.
I know what you mean TS...your right though-it didn't make much of a difference- I'm just saying he couldn't eat for the final 48 hours such as Cotto couldn't-it will take a toll on your body. Pac still woulda stopped beat em at 147 though-Just think Cotto woulda made it those last 2 minutes-TS is right though-
Pac was 148, and DLH was 147. That's the fight night weights that were given. Bottom line is that DLH was badly drained. It was his own fault, but he was drained nontheless.
If it wouldn't make a difference it wouldn't be requested. I suggest that you shut the **** up if you have no clue whatsoever about weight. I know putting on 2 pounds a day is normal to you and makes no difference to your performance(especially when you switch on the computer), but athletically, it does make a huge difference. Cotto's training pretty much becomes based on TWO things rather than one, train for Pacquiao and make sure he makes the requested limit, and a conditioner is hired and paid for his work.
