I would keep him where he's at. He's already an ATG right now. Fighting emmanuel, Martinez, and Khan in early 2012 are the bonuses. It's like overachieving.

Although, the public demand to see Floyd beat emmanuel is very strong, so I know he would get a very strong backlash initially if he retired without taking that fight. I'm not sure if using Martinez as a sub would even make up for it, the average sports fan doesn't know who the hell Martinez is. If it was emmanuel's fault for why the big fight can't get made, then Floyd used Martinez as a sub, Floyd would still get **** for it. That's just the way the media is with Floyd.

He's too hated to be looked at clearly until years into his retirement. For example, you have some ******s who think its worse to slap a ***** like Floyd did than **** up Cotto's face with plasters in your gloves antonio style. That's how hated he is.

Agree with Leon, if he were to fight Manny first and win, he wouldn't fight again. I don't necessarily blame him for that, I think at this point he views boxing as his "job" moreso than even other fighters. No different than any one of us, if we could not work anymore, because financially we didn't have to...we probably wouldn't. I think he likes to gamble, spend time with his kids, and basically not do ****...sounds ****ing awesome to me...lol.

I agree with others that said it's worse that he fight a nobody than retire.

he should fight manny then berto, or berto then manny.he does not have to fight the mw champion of the world.floyd doest not play the whole catch weight game so i dout he will put on that type of weight for a fight with martinez.i dout floyd goes higher then 147 the rest of his career unless its his last fight for the cherry on top of his career.

This. Serg is a good fighter, but he's flawed. His recent impressive KO win is overshadowing the fact that he had to take a break in the middle rounds and gave them away against Williams and Pavlik.

What's wrong with the ***** logic?

The thread starter stated that if Mayweather would never fight Pac or Martinez and retire or he would probably still fight but Berto, or JMM 2, or Bradley but not Pac or Martinez.........

Yet these *****s would keep saying that if he beats Pac? Is reading comprehension not included in their educational system?

HERE IT IS : IF GAYWEATHER WOULD NEVER HAVE PAC OR MARTINEZ IN HIS RESUME, WOULD THE *****S STILL HAVE THE SAME PERCEPTION ABOUT GAYWEATHER?

OR WOULD HE HAVE AN ASTERISK IN THAT PERCEPTION.

Knowing the *****s, even if he fights Matthew Hatton, they will still find a way to justify that. I am sure they will buy that PPV and then justify that it makes PPV sense.

Good point Leon, Floyd aint getting any praise beating Godzilla. That pretty much his fault though wouldnt you say? I disagree though that hindsight will bring him good nostalgia if he misses the Pac fight.

I agree Martinez nows getting lots of hype but man, who really knows this guy? I dont see him selling PPVs for either Pac or Floyd. Way too much love, even the great white hope Pavlik didnt get this much hype after Miranda and Taylor and Taylors better than Williams.

i never knew floyd to go over 150 pounds.when he tryed to put on weight for the shane fight he said he was still about 150.shane may have been 160 though not floyd.floyd would beat serg just by being smart and clever and quicker.
