Because Hatton winning will cement Floyd as one of the greatest ever. We need Hatton to beat Oscar, and another top 147 pounder to show that Floyd wasnt beating some 1 dimensional bum whos worthless above 140.
The difference between Floyd fans and say, in particular Calzaghe fans on this board is that Floyd fans will say Hatton is **** blah blah blah, and then come up with this kinda crap AFTER the fight. Whereas the more wily, (but still see through) Calzaghe fans will hype his opponent, particularly Kessler, out of all proportion before the fight to make him look better when he wins. Just shows a difference in iq levels really....
As a fan of Ricky Hatton, I give Floyd much praise for winning and beating him in the fashion he did. He adjusted beautifully and outfought Hatton on the inside - a testament to his versatility as a fighter. That said, Hatton is not an elite fighter at 147, so I do not consider it a "great" win. I believe wins over Williams or Cotto would do more for Floyd's legacy. De La Hoya would likely knock Hatton out in 6 or less, but even if Hatton never regains a title, Mayweather's win shouldn't get less praise because he beat Hatton when he was undefeated, carrying a lot of momentum, and a top 10 pound for pound fighter.
just one problem: hatton cant beat ANY of the top 147 pounders!!!! in other words: hatton just doesnt have the talent.
I'de definately root for Hatton if he fought DLH.. DLH is an *******.. I wish it was Oscar he sent into that turnbuckle...
