The dude was already getting paid. Floyd needs the money a lot more than JMM. JMM and his camp could have forced Floyd to honor the 144 pound weight limit. Floyd owes 6 million to the IRS, he wasn't going to pull out, he would have sweated the 2 pounds off. It seems that the Marquez camp doesn't think the 2 pounds is a big deal, unless of course the "premier Mexican fighter" is just in it for the cold hard cash.

    you can jest my ass.

Floyd will weigh about 150, JMM probably 144-146.

look i have defended floyd many times on this forum against blind haters.......but to not disclose this to the fans is what i have a problem with....what is marquez supposed to do? just not fight? no he had to go along with it....

now to answer your question, they make weight classes for a reason.....floyd was already fighting a guy who was a super feather in march of '08....had only fought twice at lightweight, and then is coming up now 2 weight classes against the fromer lineal WW champ......yes, weight can effect the outcome of this fight....it need to be atleast 144, marquez contract stated....

So the **** what, some of you said he respects Marquez well if that were true it would have shown today.
They changed this **** at the last min a straight up ***** move by Floyd, you guys cant defend him, I know you will but there is nothing you can say that makes this move by Floyd right.

if you want to fight smaller guys becuase your afraid of everybody in your weight class, then stick to the agreement you signed.

I feel what you are saying Jeff...But don't fighters tend to blow up after the weighin, I remember Clottey coming in at around super middle weight, when he fought Diego Corrales and they both made weight. So i mean, i see the point in honoring the contract, but i dont really read that much into the weights especially when they are close, but thats just my opinion, but u stated a great point, much respect.

Anyone who thinks the two pounds mean nothing, if so insignificant, why wouldn't he just make the weight? It is painfully obvious that the two pounds would have taken much out of him, anyone who has cut weight knows that last couple are BRUTAL. It's much more significant that floyd huggers want you to think.

This is a black and white issue. Honor the contract.

I hear you man. If it was me i would honor the contract, but if someone came in 2lbs over i would not be mad. But i fought heavyweight, but im a small heavyweight i range from 205-210, but when u fight guys 230-250 lbs u just have to suck it up. So im not that strict on weight issues, cause i have a diffrent view of it.

Yea, im here with you man, i know how draining it is to cut weight, it feels like your soul has been drained out of your body, sometimes you are to weak to think.
