Hmmm ok we gotta play the color card here again, I guess some people have a problem with Blacks rooting for May because he's Black, LOL, when whites and eastern euros root for the Klitchkos, who skill wise are NOT in May's league, or Filipino fans rooting for Paq, gee I dunno maybe it's possible folks of other races mostly Whites hate on Floyd because he's rich living the dream, and has NEVER lost and will most likely win tomorrow night..
Boxing doesn't get a lot of respect ,but for a Black Man to be the highest paid athletics on the planet is more than enough for me.
Pac****s make me sometimes defend against their ridiculous claims but I usually root for whoever is fighting floyd when I'm away from the forum, including pac.
I am rooting against Manny - I hate 2 faced goody shoes lying POS who like to play the religious/good card while they are lying cheating scummbaags . I prefer being who are real and not fake and that is not Manny
Haven't seen one direct post yet why one would root for him. I can think of many ways why, but nobody has actually answered the question.
Because Floyd is as real as they come :rofl:roflatsch He beat his baby's momma, in front of his own children, stole his children's phones then denied it saying "where is the evidence". Then he enters a plea bargain rofl There must have been something!
I don't count myself a fan because of Floyd the person and I'm usually rooting against him when it's not in some pointless match with a guy like Guerrero who I don't see going very far after a Floyd fight. But here are some reasons. 1.) He's good, people have been overlooking the flaws of great athletes and cheering for what the do in their field for as long as I can remember. Vikings fans won't be booing Adrian Peterson when he gets back, Cowboys fans won't be silent when Greg Hardy records his first sack this year, and Braves fans didn't mind watching John Rocker close out games. 2.) People like seeing history be made, it's rare and we like to get to say we experienced something truly rare during our lifetimes. Floyd retiring at 50-0 would be one of those things. Tiger's no saint but he's the only golfer I really know exists and when I watch the majors I'm still hoping he'll break Nicklaus' record. 3.) It's familiar. If you've been watching Floyd since the Olympics or even just since the Genaro fight then you've probably been aware he was going to be something. Now that he's the biggest attraction in the sport it's easier to stick with Floyd and the fanfare/anticipation/excitement that surrounds each one of his fights than it is to bury yourself in the sport and appreciate a fighter you have to watch in grainy 240 DPI with Russian/Japanese commentary and have no one to discuss the actual 'event' with. 4.) There absolutely is racism in this country and every country around the world. With the (ongoing) history of oppression in this country, if you are a black man watching another black man make more money in one night than the CEO of Target makes in a year and all it ever seems like anyone does is trash him then I understand why you would want to hold someone who has 'made it' - so to speak - in esteem. 5.) Polarization. If you were even just barely a Floyd fan 5-10 years ago and have seen/heard people constantly tear into him for the ducking, domestic violence, trashtalking etc... then that usually only enforces your opinion. Especially when much of the criticism in a place like this forum is coming from a place of malice or is agenda-driven.
Did Floyd say he was not the sort of person to beat a woman? Has he said he is anything he has not been? No! Now for Manny - his lies and lies when cheating and fathering a kid outside his marriage. His lies about his tax bill - his lies about PEDS And now this liar uses Gods name and says he is here for God when in fact he is here for Money :rofl Floyd was straight up about why he is doing this. I trust Floyed 100% more than the politician lying snake Manny.
Floyd has engineered people into hating him so he can make more money. He's Ted Dibiase ffs. The problem for Floyd is this: He seems to find it genuinely difficult to deal with the hate he has intentionally created for himself. He's a sensitive dude.
At the end of the day hes very good at what he does and people enjoy watching him. I WAS a floyd fan up until 2010 and now i cant really stand the guy for numerous reasons but i still do respect his ability in the ring. I think to be a Floyd fan you have to admire what he does in the ring and ignore what he does out of it.
