Floyd fans when did you determine that Cotto was not damaged goods anymore?

Martinez would be my #1 also but he isn't available or willing to fight at this point. I believe he wants more time to be able to work on his weight.

The argument always was why is Cotto a good fight for Mayweather now even though he was viewed as shot previously. My answer was even though he was viewed as shot and overrated by me he is still the best option for Mayweather when you add everything together. There is nobody else that combines everything he has to offer in terms of money, rankings, accomplishments and skills after Pac.

While I wouldn't mind those fights they are not clear better options then Cotto, and I don't even know if they are available. There resumes as a whole don't match Cotto's. They are only interesting because they offer size and ko power, but so did Ortiz and people complained about him.

Cotto is more or less shot and his soul isn't the same.

Even old Shane seemed more dangerous opponent for FMJ when their fight was announced.

But still not too bad match-up; MUCH better than Ortiz. Cotto has at least a big name and cv.

Cotto is the same man, only a few years older. He was always B+ and he's still b+. Getting 9 pounds heavier does not entirely change a man. And draining a world class fighter "1 pound" from his usual weigh in weight does not make him less of a world class fighter.

Hopkins was supposed to be drained 2 pounds by Oscar to 158. He came down even lower at like 156 or something. and even 4 pounds "drained" he ktfo out of the naturally smaller guy. That's right: a naturally smaller guy who is awesome should only be mediocre at higher weights. Pac beat a good version of Cotto; Floyd will beat a good version of Cotto, but THEY ARE BEATING THE SAME MAN, one who has happened to have aged 2 years in that time and had some unchallenging competition. He didn't look great against Margarito in the rematch, same front running and signs of weariness and desperation and holding etc. Completely over-rated win.

In general, you can tell when a fighter is truly truly shot: Castillo against Hatton and then against Gomez, Gatti against Gomez. See?

If Gomez beats you, you are shot. :deal

Probably around the same time than Pacquiao fans decided he was a legitimate fight for Pacquiao next. Bollucks argument.

people have been quoting Sugar Ray Leonard's book where he talks about how making a fighter lose one pound is devastating ... but look at his career: he drained a guy who had fought at 175 for years down to 165 ... That's not one pound. If one pound is devastating, is what he did murder? so let's leave sugar ray out of this.

Martinez, who would've happily went down to 154 to fight Floyd and has said it plenty of times.

  9. for me it was the moment Arum and team Pac decided to ask him 4 a rematch fight at a catchweight.

:deal this. Plus nobody called it a cherry pick when pac fought Cotto. It was considered a 50-50 fight. It was criticised for the usual pac bollocks of forcing a catch weight for cottos 147 belt. Pac loses credit for demanding catch weights simple as that.

Floyd is fighting a rejuvenated Cotto at a proper weight where Cotto is strong. Something Poochiao would never do

I agree with Martinez but he isn't available for May 5th. He is looking at Nov as he wants time to be able to work on bringing the weight down.

Not to mention that Pacquiao iced a weight-impaired Cotto. If Floyd fights Cotto at +150lbs, it will be a significant win. I am hoping for 154lbs.

Cotto didn't take a beating in the Pacquiao fight no matter how his face looked after that fight. He took one against Margarito though.
