Yah, but I recall many of the articles after the fight claiming Castillo won. I don't recall most of press row giving Mayweather the fight, much less a large margin.

Perhaps this needs to be looked up? After the fight of course.

It was pretty evenly split from what I could find.

    http://www.maxboxing.com/Kim/kim042202.asp

Ringside media was split on who won the WBC lightweight title fight, respected scribes like Kevin Iole of the Las Vegas Review Journal and David Mayo of the Grand Rapids Press (Mayweather's hometown paper) each had scoring similar to the three judges. Many others had a much smaller margin of victory for 'the Pretty Boy.'

I remember KO having Mayweather winning 115-111, and Nigel Collins having it 116-113 Castillo.

Thanks for that. ESPN has a little snippet about the fight when they are going over Mayweather's Five Key fights.

But this doesn't specify press. I do find it hard to believe that most of press row scored it 115-111 for Mayweather.

All of you malmut clowns have short memories. Of course the crowd was pro Castillo and HBO influences dingbat shithead boxing ******s with there dumb ass commentary. Thats a part of the game. Floyd won, close but could of been a draw at worse. He got a legit knockdown early in the fight as well as Castillo fell back off balance and tripped over his own feet from a floyd leaping hook. Floyd closed the show stronger that won him the fight.

Many people actually gave the last rounds to Castillo, not Mayweather. Castillo outlanded him in the 11th and 12th. Also, there was a KD that wasn't called for Castillo as well that many believe was legit. You didn't mention that.

And why can't we just have different opinion than you? Why is it "influenced"? Is yours? You defend Mayweather at every junction. Is YOUR opinion influenced?

With that said, I did score the first Castillo fight for Floyd by 3 points.

But I wasn't watching the HBO version (didn't they score it a draw; or was it a Castillo win). Anyway, I suggest people try and get a hold of this fight that is NOT the HBO version. Might not change a thing, but I'd just be interested in seeing people's opinions after.

I can't see how anyone can give Castillo 6 of the last 7 rounds. Or more than 1 round from the first 5.

Fights are scored round by round. Not by the punch. And in the first fight with Castillo Floyd won more rounds and its really that simple. Its the rounds that Castillo won that leads so many people to say or think that he actaully won the fight.

Besides i think that the second fight cleared all that up:hi:

I'm a Floyd fan and thinking that he can't lose a round is ridiculous. As a matter of fact this thread looks like one of those many threads that promote all the same "Insult PBF" nonsense. No fighter can't lose a round and last I checked Floyd traded rounds with Hatton and DLH in his last two fights so can he not a lose?
If this is referred to a Margarito then I can understand it(though don't agree).

The reason Floyd won the first castillo fight by such a large margin was because the Judges werent counting Castillo's body work plain and simple. And I cant blame then since Castillo landed alot of those punches on Floyds elbows.

I had the fight 15-13 Mayweather. I believe Floyd took the championship rounds and sat down on alot of his punches. With 10 being a tie on account of Floyd being deducted a point. Floyd totally dominated the second fight, it was 8-4 at best. Which leads me to believe Floyd was actually hurt like he claimed in the first fight.

I dont score sloppy ineffective aggression. Non of that olympic bull**** like Calzaghe and Oscar pull. Floyd landed the cleaner effective shots on Oscar point blank, Oscar throwing weak flurries at Floyds arms doesnt impress me. Judges score fights on ring generalship and clean effective punching, and this is why its hard for Floyd to ever lose a UD, he is the best today at both those area's. A reference to what Lampley said, "Floyd by UD is always the logical choice"

Floyd is such an amazing fighter that he wins rounds simply because is is more technically gifted than his opponent. "What? He was outlanded?, that doesn't matter, he has more skills so he won." His name is also Money Mayweather.
