HBO's Ross Greenburg, during the Pac-Cotto post-fight presser had been saying they (hbo) had been gearing and building up for this ultimate showdown in the past 3 months. The Floyd comeback, the subsequent showdown with JMM, etc. He even guaranteed that GBP's CEO Shaeffer will be calling TR's Arum by Monday (today): Greenburg is that confident. This little press release by Floyd is an appetizer...

Let's all hold our breath and wait... Floyd sounded feeling the heat of the pressures of the boxing gods, and he will (he had no choice) take this--albeit reluctantly as he sounded...

The gods of boxing has spoken. The mortal Floyd has to relent. Or retire (again)...

he didn't say I will fight Pac next for 50-50 either did he? the man is known liar, you dont take anything he says at face value. but he sure did seem worried and uncomfortable about having to fight this demon. when you know he'd rather handpick some shlep instead.

Wow. this mockery of the great Manny Pacquiao is already on CNN's website. PBF surely knows how to hype up a fight.

This is going to be entertaining. :good

of course they have. It makes perfect sense to have PBF and Pacman fight different fighters first to build the hype for the ultimate showdown. When it was announced PBF would be facing JMM I saw plenty people moan and complain without realising that the whole plan was to have PBF and Pacman win and then they face each other. Yes it may not have worked out like that if either man lost but this way not only have HBO had 2 great PPV's they will now get a huge huge 3rd PPV number next year. It's business people.

Who is making excuse? No one.

Only excuse is coming from PBF.

    Sign the damn fight.

Floyd has had so much **** spewing out of his mouth I think he's used to the taste. He goes to such great lengths and travels so many winding roads of back-asswards logic to justify his actions that he probably has himself convinced to an extent, but on the inside he knows he's just afraid. Beating the P4P best fighter in the world wouldn't be a big deal? Beating one of the greatest fighters of all time wouldn't matter? Maybe Pacquiao didn't directly call him out because Pacquiao doesn't need Mayweather. Pacquiao's legacy is secure and he has other options, though none quite as lucrative.

Does Maywather honestly think that because he doesn't get insane props for beating old light-weight Marquez, or unskilled light-welterweight Hatton that he wouldn't get props for beating the consensus best fighter of the generation? Deep down, no, I don't think he does. He needs to drop the pretense, because every time he starts spouting out these asinine excuses to avoid threatening fighters he just sounds like an idiot. He should just come right out and say he is afraid of Pacquiao. He's afraid of Mosley. He doesn't want a tough fight. He doesn't want to fight a great fighter. He doesn't want to risk getting hurt or risk losing. Floyd Mayweather is the worst thing about boxing right now. He is an ignorant, cowardly man-child. I want him gone. Period.

If he does fight Pacquiao, win or lose, he should get respect from everyone who said he wouldn't fight a tough opponent out of fear. He will have proved those people wrong.

I think he's incorrect in saying he'll get no credit by beating Pac. At this point, I think we can say that BOTH fighters are Welterweights, proving so in the ring.

LET'S GET IT ON!!! THE FIGHT OF THE MILLENNIUM!
