    Enigma,

There's a basic flaw in your original question:

If you think Saturday was a "toe to toe fight," then I suggest you watch Leonard-Hagler again, or Hagler-Hearns.

Toe to toe my ass, Floyd engaged just enough to stay ahead on points, but mostly did his "slick" routine, as always. He was never, EVER in any danger at all. Pretty to watch, truly impressive from a technical standpoint, (esp for his age) but really rather boring and FAR from a real war.
    ---------

And FWIW, the Floyd that just fought Cotto would toy with Pac all night.
It would be like Wlad vs Haye.
It would be the bull vs the matador. - and we know who'd have the cape & sword.

He will have to use his movement and counters to beat Pacquiao. Going toe to toe with Pacquiao is only going to make things easier for Pacquiao. If anything, he needs to apply his superior defensive and boxing skills to overwhelm, confuse and frustrate Pacquiao.

Going toe to toe would be idiotic even if he has success doing so, which is doubtful.

The last time he went toe to toe was against chop chop a long time ago.

Walking someone down and going toe to toe is different.

Leonard mostly used his boxing skills and movement against Hagler. When he was pinned on the ropes, he did exchange but what won him the fight was his boxing skills and movement. He had Hagler frustrated enough to holler insults like "*****" and "fight me" as he was desperately chasing. I wouldn't consider that fight a war either.

Hagler vs Hearns was a war. Hearns pretty much dumped his boxing ability, which he could have applied effectively, to trade with Hagler. Obviously the result wasn't good enough. Since Hearns' is my all-time favorite, I would have wished he used his boxing ability to win that fight rather than do what he did.

Well, true, but it was much more of a war than Floyd-Cotto.

I just re-watched it yesterday, having been so underwhelmed by Floyd's fight, and there is just no comparison. It's a good fight FOR a comparison, specifically because SRL was such a great tactical fighter, like Floyd, so you see how much Floyd chose NOT to do.

I agree with what he will do against Pac. Pac has no defense and is often open to land on. Mayweather will focus a lot of Pacs body, which opponents fail to do. Margarito had a lil bit success hurting Pac to the body once or twice. Remember pacs KO loses come from body shots.

He doesn't just walk straight to them, it was with a left hand lead.. :deal

Are you suggesting that you don't have to move your feet together with your punches? Or moving to the side while throwing punches?

Plus he's moving straight at first, then Manny goes to his right.. You watch his feet every time Manny punches.. Or you just have a bad eye for boxing.. Like when you said Pac's footwork is average.. :rofl :rofl

  8. SO COTTO was able to make it a fight but the best Offensive fighter of this era and fighter of decade is going to have trouble vs a fighter with no power ?
PED jmm launching right hands couldnt hurt the boi.?
Cotto has no pop, Manny faster than Floyd as seen on tv

If Floyd stands and trades... Manny will KO him in 3! If Floyd gets on his bike, Manny will KO him in 10! It's already written in stone.. Manny will crush Floyd! That's why Floyd has been ducking and dodging for so long..

He moves to his left for most of the time Manny throws a punch.. A good way of nullifying your opponent's left.. :deal

And he is also mixing it up from the inside to the outside that got Manny confused for quite some time in few rounds.. Too bad Manny found a way for this with his right hand counter which stops JMM from executing this fight style for most of the time.. :deal

i think floyd will do what it takes to win, and if the ko presents it self he will take it. if not so be it but it will be a good fight. i think he will box and brawls in spots with pacman.

Floyd can't push Cotto away with all his boxing skills but Manny Knocked Cotto down twice and made him run until getting stopped.. :yep

Floyd won't toy with Pac, and nobody will.. :deal
You play with the most relentless offensive boxer of 147 and you'll end up at the intensive care unit of a hospital.. :smoke

Pac is not a fighter who just come at you in a straight direction.. :nono
You think Pac is like Margarito? Hatton? Rios? Think again..

Floyd with a cape a a dull sword won't be enough.. He needs a shield..

There were a few times in the fight were I thought Mosley was going down from head and body shots
