I know. But at least let the boy build his confidence a bit more. Not too long ago, he was a piece of **** to many of boxing fans eyes because of his action against Madaina. Who knows what a humiliating defeat against Mayweather will do to his ego.

You need to realize that May unlike Pac is an independent contractor (Free Agent) He is his own promoter, Pac works under Arum, Arum gets his cut minus cost of promotion etc. then Manny gets his.

Not a bad fight for Ortiz. Look Mayweather's inactivity will catch up to him at some point. Regardless Ortiz stands to make a couple million which will be more than hes ever made. I dont know how anyone would want to buy this fight though regardless of who wins.

It is better if the fans today are similar to fans of yester years...those people actually stood by their guys through thicks and thins. Most of today's boxing fans have short memory and zero loyalty. One lost and fighters became crap; or other **** like that. With this mindset, can you really blame the promoters and fighters to take easy fights and money?

 

If Vic the Brick Ortiz loses, it's not like it'll be held against him. It wouldn't be him losing against a nobody, plus he'll be compensated very well for the fight.

 

Yeah that's insane. Why so much? Against anyone but Pac or Sergio, he isn't worth it...

40 M seems high. You figure the fight is probably only going to do a million buys if that. Gate will only be 2-3 M. If they market it aggressively, that'll cost them x # of $.

Whomever said "$15M" sounds about right.
maybe as high as $20M which is still pretty amazing considering Ortiz is defintiely not a household name outside of our circles....
