Mayweather had 27 fights at the 130 pound weight class. His superfans act like he was doing great things at the weight. But was he really? He had 27 fights there and had 2 notable fights. The first was an Oscar leftover named Genaro Hernandez a B level fighter. The other was a win over a good fighter named Diego Corrales. So he has 2 somewhat significant fights at the weight and 25 fights that nobody cares about and then he's awesome.
What a silly thread. How foolish the thread starter looks and is... Genaro is among the ATG's-of-the-division. Corrales was a highly feared monster high on everyones' P4P list when he was first defeated. Angel Manfredy was ranked #4 at 130 when Floyd defeated him. Jesus Chavez was also ranked #4 going into their fight. He would remain in the top 5 of the division for four whole years after losing to Floyd. Carlos Hernandez was ranked in the top 10 at 130 from 2002-2006, peaking as high as #3 in 2003 (at that time, Chavez was #2 and C. Hernandez was #3). Goyo Vargas, former 126 titlist, was ranked in the top 10 before and even after he lost to Mayweather at 130. I count two #1 ranked fighters, two top 5 ranked fighters, and two top 10 ranked fighters. Each of those six opponents were stalwarts of the top 10 at 130 for years too.
Except replace all the #1's, top 5's, and top 10's with "fringe contender." Then yeah, sure. And that's still somehow good enough for many people to compare him to Marvin Hagler.
Are you mad Floyd is the best of the era? Maybe if you make enough threads on these forums you can undo and rewrite history!
You sound like a joyboy Flohmoh in making this thread. Is this you "voting in the poll for the opposite of what I really believe to try to psych [us] out!"??? Make a thread with obvious answers that make your thread look stupid to somehow boost some other sort of angle that helps your agenda or what? tinman = knows as much as Jon Snow
Super featherweight is an historically weak division. Floyd might have done as much or nearly as much as anyone else there. Who's passed through there that we might have heard of? Alexis Arguello, Julio Cesar Chavez, Sandy Saddler, Flash Elorde, Kid Chocolate, Azumah Nelson, Pacquiao, Morales, Barrera. Arguello: Escalera x2, Limon, Chacon, Navarrete, eight title defenses JCC: Roger Mayweather, Rocky Lockridge, Juan Laporte, nine title defenses Flash Elorde: ten defenses Azumah Nelson: Juan Laporte, Jeff Fenech, eleven defenses Erik Morales: Manny Pacquiao Barrera: Erik Morales Pacquiao: Morales x2, Barrera, Marquez
