Pac chose to fight Cotto instead, who's already beaten Mosley. Top Rank fight too, made more sense for Arum, who had to give Cotto a big money fight who was on his last fight in his current contract. Mosley got his chance later.

It's easy to beat all lineal champions in a division when you ARE the lineal champion in that division.

Pretty hard to beat the lineal champion in a division when he isn't fighting ANYONE.

#1 WW does not equal lineal champion...******. He can't beat a lineal champion when there isn't any. In in case, a victory over non-lineal champion Cotto is better than a win over lineal champion Baldomir.

That's not fighting the best. Cotto barley beat Mosley and if the drudges scored it a draw nobody would have said anything. Margarito TKOd Cotto, Mosley TKO'd Margarito putting on top.

Mosley was available while Cotto had a fight lined up vs Clottey. Why wait until after the Clottey fight? Why not fight Mosley first then Cotto?

That's probably true, though not a fact. But Cotto was coming off a beat down, a poor performance, and trainer issues. While Baldomir was coming off of 2 exceptional performances.

Besides Mayweather win over Hoya at 154 is probably greater then Cotto at 147 because of the weight class & size difference as well as Hoya having the better trainer (Roach).

Concrete, you are posting in hindsight.
You KNOW very well that we all thought Cotto was gonna murder Pac or at least we never thought Pac was just gonna steamroll Cotto.

    At least be f*cking honest.

And just in case you forgot, Arum makes the call, not Pac.
And I hate that about Pac as well.

Big deal. I would've preferred he have fought the lineal champ at 140, Tszyu, and skipped Judah, Baldomir to fight Cotto, Margo, Paul Williams, Pac at 147. Pac's resume at 147 is still greater (old De La Hoya, Cotto, Clottey, Margo, old Mosley)

Good job Floyd...you beat Baldo and a 39 yr old Shane... Put it this way....Floyd gets as much credit for his "Shane win" as Manny does. And Floyd gets about as much credit for his win over Baldo as PAC gets for his win over Diaz. Good wins but nothing spectacular. They both have far better wins.

Listen genius SSM was the linear/WBC champ and most felt Floyd was ducking him before he took the fight. SSM was coming off a few impressive victory's unlike when he fought Pacman. That why the fight (Floyd vs SSM) was more hyped and sold more. Floyd not once but twice beat the Top fighter in the WW division, case dismissed.

Hey....I'm not knocking Floyd for taking the path of least resistance since it offered just as much financially as well as for his legacy by grabbing a "Lineal" title. I don't think he ducked Marg at all...

Regardless of what people thought about Shane....the fact is he was done. And Floyd did what he was suppose to do against a fighter that is "DONE".

when you say Shane was "coming off an impressive victory".....let's be real. he was 14 months INACTIVE after that fight with marg when he was 38!

The fight sold more bc of the PERCEPTION they had of Shane, which wasn't accurate. And the fight only did about 100K more in PPV buys than PAC vs SHane when everyone knew Shane was finished as a fighter. Which goes to show you that PAC carried that fight pretty much on his name alone.

"case dismissed"....:rofl Who the **** says that ****?

No I'm just playing devils advocate to the standards that Caneman set.

I didn't think Cotto would steamroll Pac either. I thought it would come down to Pac's hand speed vs Cotto's power. I thought Pac could win if he beat Cotto to the punch while avoided being hit much himself. I didn't think that Pac would be able to walk through Cotto's punches like he did though.

But again that wasn't the point. The point was about fighting the best. Cotto wasn't considered the best when Pac fought him. Neither was any welterweight or middleweight that Pac has fought to date.

Again this is all going by the standards that caneman set.

How does Mayweather establish who his top competition is?

Margarito only became popular because they claimed Mayweather was ducking him and turned down 8mil to fight him. Other then that all he did was win a vacant belt against Antonio Diaz and have 1 quality title defense against Cintron. Judah on the other hand took Spinks belt who was considered the top WW after he took the belt from Mayorga who took the best from Forrest. Baldomir beat Judah who was the new top WW by defeating Spinks and defended against Gatti. This while going on a 17 fight win streak and 8yr undefeated streak.

So how does Mayweather guage his comp when one guy is accomplishing more then the other?
