For those needing a brief history lesson - it was in late June of 2005 and Mayweather had just looked sensational in stopping the late Arturo Gatti. Shortly after fighting Gatti, Mayweather issued a challenge to Winky Wright who defeated Felix Trinidad a month earlier after beating Shane Mosley in their rematch in November of 2004. At that time I wrote for another entity and said Mayweather was just trying to get attention and had no intention of ever fighting Wright. None whatsoever. Stating that Floyd would get out of the fight by making outrageous demands that Wright would never accept. Only Mayweather was wrong and Wright did accept his terms knowing he'd do exactly to Mayweather what Floyd just did to Marquez. Winky knew his size and strength would neutralize Mayweather's speed and skill set. Once Wright agreed to accept the ridiculous deal, surprise, Mayweather turned a deaf ear and went another direction and fought Sharmba Mitchell. http://www.thesweetscience.com/boxing-article/7224/don-surprised-mosley-mayweather-rumors-escalate/ Winky called his bluff was called and he folded. Manny now called his bluff and he's also folding.
except manny really didn't call his bluff and both sides made outrageous demands floyd wanted drug testing manny wouldn't agree manny wanted 10mil for every pound floyd wouldn't agree manny wanted march floyd wanted may neither of them stepped up and made this fight happen
nah march was floyds's options along with may. they don't want september because they think pac would have time to recuperate from his damage against cotto. floyd thought pac would not call the march bluff because he has busted eardrums and just 4 months away from a war. they offered may as another date because they knew that pac was already commited in the elections. pac called floyd's bluff and now that floyd thinks he's not ready, he would just make some more demands.
