    this is ****ing stupid

he just fought hatton a fight that was 2-3 years in the making that people have been waiting for it. THe build up was huge. I expected a UD and he came through with a KO over a relatively young and prime undefeated fighter. That is a career defining fight.

I made a bet with Relentless that Gomez would last 12 rounds.:patsch:-( I still picked Cotto by wide UD.

the hatton fight gave him the broader appeal in my book but his resume is also damn good of course he gets a lot of **** for not haveing good compitition inbetween fights but gatti corrales JLC bald (for some) having signed off on them he had alot of career moments just pick one since he peobably has fought everysingle style in the book and has adapted shows something. Too bad that most of his acheivements are overshadowed by the fact that hes an ass hole but he is the top dog so everyones gonna call him out and if he decline people will be quick to call ducking even if the odds are he will propbably win

Not a Floyd fan but he will get my respect if he was to do that, but very unlikely because, that means he will have to take some risks against Cotto and he isn't about that seeing that Cotto is going to return fire. He's a safety first boxer and that is why boxing fans have trouble giving him any respect.

You call career defining by beating a junior welter and barley getting by a part time past his prime fighter?!:nut

    define career defining fight?

i dont get what that means... how many fighters truly have "career defining fights" under the conditions you have for floyd

who did tyson beat that was so amazing?
who did bhop beat that was so career defining? (supposedly bhop was supposed to win going in anyway)
who did joe calzaghe beat that was career defining?
who did oscar de la hoya beat that was career defining?

    i dont get this thread

I can only answer this one with any real conviction.
    • 2 world title wins with a broken hand
    • Getting floored for the first time by Brewer and dtopping him in the same round
    • Lacy (JC was the underdog)
    • Kessler (tough fight)
You can add Eubank from a British perspective as he answered all the critics in the UK for various reasons.

I see where the thread starter is coming from. Basically, he just wants to see FMJ in trouble, in a spot of adversity and coming through it when the chips are really down. That, to me anyway, defines what kind of fighter you are. So I guess he wants him to take riskier fights.

The problem is, when you're as good as Mayweather, people want to see you lose instead of appreciating what a talent he is.
