You bring up a good point. Mayweather's body punching, if anything, is what is underrated. That straight right to Sharmba's body comes to mind in his first welter fight.....
Id rate his power respectable but more average than good. At least at Welter. At JL he had above average power.
If Floyd's power is really underrated he would have knocked the **** out a career featherweight who had ONLY two fights at lightweight before making him come up to 144lbs and then gone in himself 2lbs over. "If I knock him down I'ma gonna finish him..." :rofl
Jeez, that's a very good example of Floyd's power at welterweight. Sharmba Mitchell? Who only had one single fight at '47 before fighting Floyd?
Pac did not outweighed Marquez for around 10 pounds like Floyd did. Marquez was not 2 division lower than pac as it was against Floyd.
Well with older, smaller, limited fighters Floyd seems like a juggernaut. But it is what it is. His speed plus positioning and timing with his counterpunching skills can have an effect, but if he would commit to sitting on his punches more he would sacrifice some of his defense and just leave himself wide open for a counter himself as he would have to be flatfooted to sit on his punching. Smart fighter yes, underrated power, no.
