There is no "tax break" in it for participation. If it was the tax break he could just donate straight to charity.

I think what he was saying is that whether you donate straight cash to charity or pay for a Golden Gloves tourney, the tax break is the same. That being the case, why wouldn't he just write a check to a charity foundation instead of paying to restore a Golden Gloves tourney and having to involved in all the planning if he's just looking for a tax break?

silly kid, Floyd would say that if he only cared about money to hype the fight which in turn hypes the interest and his pocket. Not sayinf FLoyd does NOT care about legacy just saying there is a monetary reason behind his comments.

Here you go attempting, and failing, at being witty. You idiot it isn't. Only your expenses are. So it would not be "cost effective" for him to donate time versus just cash.

I always donate you clown. :yep

That is true to an extent, but the truth it that a person's time is NOT tax deductible.

If you volunteer 10 hours a week for a year you can't deduct the hours you donated. You CAN deduct the expenses gas going back and forth, dry cleaners bills, etc... So from FMJ's (and any other person's) perspective what is the point of actually DOING the handing out of sandwiches or any other charity work in person? He is better off donating lump sums to the organizations! That clown doesn't know things like that because HE doesn't donate anything.

On top of that, last time I checked, the Golden Gloves is NOT a charitable organization! So he just "donated" that money to the sport for the love of BOXING.

True. Also, how can you call yourself the greatest without taking hte risk of going for the knockout? That is what separates the good from the great.
