Floyd haters: Isn't it about time to discuss him in the same breath as SRR?

SRR would never ever make the list of opponents that Floyd would hand pick to fight in any era .And especially if they fought in the same era ,he 'd probably want SRR to a test ..

The guy avoided the guys he had to and fought the ones necessary to be considered a great fighter. His career was guided very carefully and intelligently. Much props to Floyd.

Mayweather is a historically great fighter, but the only way I'm mentioning him in the same breath is if the sentence is "SRR would still whip Floyd's ass".

It is insane to even begin to compare. Boxing isn't the same as it was then

I agree, but it's not insane to compare in to the 80's when the fab 4 were fighting. On the comparison I think Floyd falls short due to the far lower level of comp he's fought.

Withtout a doubt imo Floyd Mayweather Jr. is an ATG.

Talent and skillwise he belongs in a ring with anyone in history, but he long took himself out of consideration to be labeled a top 5 fighter imo.

He retired when fighters that could give his style trouble were on top.
    Margarito and Paul Williams.

Where was the Tszyu, Cotto, and Hatton fights at 140 lbs.
Never heard Mayweather call these guys out.
In fact these fighters of the same generation never called eachother out and that hurts each of their legacies.

The Pac fight did not happen when it should have.

The best not fighting the best hurts boxing and Mayweather is one that did'nt care for calling out and seeking the best when they were on top.

Simple as, and I'm one that will admit that prime for prime Mayweather had the skills and tools to maybe have handled the great Julio Cesar Chavez when Chavez was at his very prime best.

I rate Chavez as the best I've ever seen, but cant say with a certainty that he'd beat Mayweather prime for prime.
Thats how much respect I have for Mayweather's skills.

I dont like Mayweather but I respect his abilities to the uttmost.

Just want him fighting the best thats all and he's does'nt always ride that road.

No hate, Sugar Ray Robinson's record is just far superior to Floyd's.

He called for Cotto...they said he was too green

called Hatton camp out they said they werent ready

Remember they both were in attendence of the Gatti fight....we know how that went

Zu was on showtime and neither had a big enough following to warrant a cross promotion.

Till this day i wish he gave me two fights...Paul Willie and Pac

I'll take Paul Williams and Margarito as I'm just of the opinion that at Welter, Mayweather would have embarrassed Pacquiao.

Mayweather would have had to punch up at Paul Williams.
Though Williams liked to fight up close, he'd be at an advantage at the distance that Mayweather likes to fight.
The way Mayweather leans back, with Williams reach, he'd reach him from any distance.

Margarito as we all know would have just kept coming without hesitation regardless of incoming.
Would have looked like a complete mismatch the first half of the fight, but what of the second half vs a prime Margarito who'd always advance no matter what and keep trying and trying?

I agree i always felt he would whoop Pac but i mean he had to show it...Pac was being regarded as on his level so he needed to show he was better.

Paul Williams i wanted to see because he was such a freak of nature and crazy workrate. Everytime i think about the fight i edge Floyd because i think he will fight inside alot more than normal because of P Willies height and reach. Paul always gave up his height and reach so getting inside wouldnt be hard Floyd is pretty good there too especially with body punch placement...it would be a good fight though because Floyd couldnt stand on the outside he would have to engage.

Margarito im sorry...there is simply nothing this man did or does but take a punch. He does not posess one punch KO power, he was not going to out box Floyd, and when ever has Floyd just tired because he had to pot shot and move to a wide UD against a slow plodder who doesnt jab comming in just stalks until he unleashes slow wide bombs? NO WAY im not buying it.

Nobody has come at Mayweather throwing punches non-stop with a crazy workrate.
Cotto with heavier hands and more power could'nt halt Margarito's assault and Cotto landed major power on Margarito through the first half of the fight.
    Still that did'nt faze Margarito.

Fighters unravel when they're stuck with clean, hard, accurate shots.
    Margarito would smile at them.

Dont get me wrong, I'm not saying Margarito definitely beats Mayweather. but he did have qualities in his style that could have troubled Mayweather.
He was a big, strong, heavy handed fighter that did'nt care to walk through incoming, he'd keep advancing.
Watch the Margarito-Williams fight. Getting hit does'nt discourage this man.

Fighters like Margarito who take alot of punishment have a short shelf live.
At the time of the Cotto fight, he was pretty close to prime though.
I think that Margarito stood a chance against Mayweather.

Mayweather with a history of hand problems would have had to throw alot of punches.
Canelo did'nt throw at a high rate and its reported Mayweather hurt his elbow.
Mayweather likely would have hurt alot of joints trying to put enough mustard on his shots to stave off Margarito.
