    Short answer, no.
Long answer, wasted talent cherrypicking, the past can not be changed.

    On a whole?

Or the versions that Ray faced?

Is Floyd a better WW-LMW than Hearns?

Do you think Floyd would have fought a 15 rounder against a peak Hearns, bearing in mind that he wouldn't fight Canelo at 154?

Would Floyd have gone undefeated against Benitez, Leonard, Hearns and Duran?

Would he even have fought them, had he had the opportunity?

This era of fighters in my opinion is the weakest in history. Thats not floyds fault but it makes him seem that lil bit better. But he is great no doubt

    Good stuff Anton.

I'm not hating here, but I don't think he'd have fought Leonard, Duran or Hearns, had he have had the opportunity.

But lets for argument sake say that he did.

Duran - He possibly could have beaten him, but I think Duran would have psyched him out, and would have won rounds on aggression.

Leonard - In a head to head breakdown, I have them pretty even, with Floyd edging it on defence, but with Ray edging it on offence, with more fire power. I think Ray would have been too much for him overall.

Hearns - Forget it. Nobody at 5ft 8 would have out boxed Tommy Hearns at 6ft 1, with a 79" reach, with one of the best jabs of all time, with unbelievable fire power. You had to fight Tommy to beat him, like Leonard did. If Floyd had tried to stay out of harms way, I don't see how he'd have scored enough points to win. If he'd have opened up, there's every chance that he'd have been taken out. Tommy intimidated Duran, and I think he'd have scared Floyd. I don't see anyway that Floyd could have beaten him.

Being better doesnt mean he would beat them.

It just means he is better.

    But...

You saw how SRL played Duran the 2nd fight? Floyd could get him the same way. In fact, Floyd would never make the same mistake SRL made the 1st fight, which is to fight Duran's fight. Not to mention the fact that Floyd would never let himself come into a fight as ill prepared as Duran was for that one. Or quit like he did.

Hearns is just too incomplete a fighter to be better then Floyd. No defense, no chin and no inside game. As fast as Hearns was, Floyd would see that right hand coming. If Floyd would be able to time Hearns jab, he could cruise to W. If not, he could outbox him on the inside.

Hagler is a MW, so a head to head is meaningless. Floyd weighs in at 150 for a JR MW fight. P4P however Im not sure how it can be argued that Hagler is better. Imagine Floyd staying at 140 his whole career waiting for featherweights to move up to him. How often would he ever be challenged?

This is my opinion, but for the record, lots of those legends say that Floyd is up there with them, even though most of nostalgic fans tell you otherwise.

when SSR lost to turpin, it was his 7th fight in 50 days and all 7 fights were in Europe.
