Oh ok. Not wanting to go back to 150 after feeling it was too much for him, is understandable. Pac didn't wanna go even more up, and Cotto didn't wanna come down, so they decided not to fight. Not much wrong with that. Pac had already beaten him, fans weren't that interested, so not fighting was the best decision.

Pac's status and ability to sell pre-Cotto, was way different and less to post-Marg; where his God-like status was it its all-time high.

I didn't say that [the selling] was primary reason why Pac turned him away. I said it's kinda' irrational to expect him to cancel the Cotto fight, in favour of Shane. And yes, I agree he was turned away because Shane had just messed up Marg. Which is why I said Roach wasn't confident in Manny's abilities to take him on at the time, and have referred to the current Martinez refusal as a comparitive example.

Edit: Also, it's important to note Roach wasn't too confident of Manny's abilities to take on Margarito, either! This was right after he beat Oscar. That tells you a lot about how much of an unknown commodity Pac was at that weight during that period.

If Pacquiao didn't force every opponent to pull an unreasonable amount of weight these criticisms wouldn't be evident.

Both PBF and Pac will get no credit if the win. People will say Cotto is shot and Pacs leftovers . . . even though he looks better then ever beating margocheato. The say that Pac dragged up to 147 and never had any power at 140.

I am more excited about Cotto because I think that he is a bigger threat at 154. That is not to say that Bradley will not cause Pac a few problems.

    Exactly.

IMO, Cotto was the worst in his career against Pacquiao. He had no trainer, no gameplan, his camp focused on weight loss, and he was still mentally out of the game. Arum pretty much served Cotto on a silver platter to Manny.

I totally agree Cotto was lathargic and his activity level was subpar even in the few rounds he might have won. The fact that Manny did not attempt to take him out earlier is clear evidence of the danger that still lied in Cotto and the fact that Cotto still damaged Manny without truly putting forth any huge flurries. Manny mentioned he was hurt by Cotto as he did with Margarito, I'm pretty sure a more focused better trained Cotto would put forth a better fight one where he would absorb the blows better cutt off the ring and put more rounds in the bank. That being said Cotto has his hands full with Floyd and while I beleive Floyd will take away a win it won't be easy.

That's how I see it too. Cotto will come to fight, but Floyd is a master. I don't see it as an easy win for Floyd, but I think the fight will push him and showcase his pedigree.

floyd also said shane was in his best form when they fought because shane knew who he was fighting. floyd always fights his opponents at their best conditions. lol

subjective interpretations, but I thought Cotto looked AWFUL in the second Margarito fight. He's lucky that face melted off Tony - he was gasping for breath and using every survival tactic in the book.

He's the same guy he always was with just a few more wars, he looked good in the Pac fight early but couldn't match the speed. I do hate how dominant wins with the prospect of a rematch are looked at as threats for Pac - what reason is there for a rematch with Cotto? none. Pac has maxed out as far as his weight classes. We don't expect Donaire to fight at 147, but he's taller than Pac. There's a point you just can't go up any higher.

Cotto was winning the first Margarito fight early really big, too, but Tony was showing less damage because his face hadn't been beaten in several times yet. It was the same fight.
