I don't think he's incredibly smart when it comes to public comments. This is not new to Floyd, and he has typically "talked down his opponent," until after the bout is completed. Then he becomes very gracious to his opponent typically. I agree with you that it is pretty stupid to do that. Mayweather would be smarter to praise Pacquiao and build him up, to make his victory seem larger than it is. *shrug*

In fact, you can go back all the way to his fight with Gatti and you'll see remarks of Mayweather saying how his opponent "isn't on his level, C-Level, B-level, etc.." I personally, I have never understood this tactic. Why diminish your opponnent and your potential victory? :huh

I remembered him heavily building jmm, ortiz, guerrero and maidana as great opponents. But this is just the beginning and let's see if what would floyd does next with pac. My prediction is he would continue to talk him down.

Roach also do this. This maybe something like to intimidate or get into the head of your opponent. Remember that for them, a win first is more important than what those boxing experts would say after the win.

Whether he builds Pac up or ****s on him, that's what fighters do. How we perceive that doesn't matter because after the fight...their sincerity is real. It's rare that fighters stay hating each other. Sure you have your " I showed him" attitude after all of the talking, but fighters can turn it off fans can't. At least the fanatics who care about stuff like that.

Last week , "Floyd is a coward" " Floyd is scared" " Floyd will never sign contract " " Floyd is fighting Cotto" " manny will ko Floyd" " Floyd can not handle Mannys power, speed, and angles"

Now, " Floyd waited for manny to decline" "manny is not the same fighter he used to be " "Floyd is ducking GGG"

I'm a manny fan, but I'm a boxing fan first. Their should be no excuses. Yes, the fight is late, but they are still 1 and 2 in their division. I actually think Manny has more of a chance now than he did 5 years ago. But the hatred that some of you guys have for Floyd is sickening. How quickly the posts have flipped since the contract was signed. And if Floyd wins, it will be because he waited till manny was past his prime, even though Floyd is past his prime too. It will be that Floyd is now scared of GGG, even though he fought Canelo when everyone said he was scared of Canelo. The whole Coward talk is so played out. All boxers put their health on the line when they step in the ring. Roy jones is punch drunk, mosely is getting there. Boxers aren't cowards. Floyd is an arrogant *****, but not a coward

I don't see many people sending checks to Gerald, who doesn't even remember who he was, or the things he accomplished in the ring. His family is left with the burden, and the grief. Look at Magomed Abdusalamov? Poor guy... that fight was a disgrace and should have been stopped. Think of his wife and children and what they are left with. Medical bills and a shell of a man for a husband/father.

My wife is new to boxing, and when she first heard Thomas Hearns speak, she asked if he was drunk. And I said: "Yea, just not from alcohol." She looked at me side ways and I said "That's what happens when you take too many blows to the head." He's "punch drunk." (Then I got the woman speech of 'why do men do this?' LOL)

People have a lot of nerve calling these men cowards and "bums." Just IMO. That is one of my pet peeves, and I think it's entirely disrespectful. Not only to the fighters, but to the sport. Have some respect. It takes a great amount of athletic ability, determination, discipline, and courage to get in the ring and fight at that level.

I'm thinking let's talk strategy now, and these clowns are talking about Floyd's words in an article lol... They clowned Floyd to no end that he couldn't read, beats women, went to prison, avoided Pac and other fighters, and now this fight gets made, they get scared.

The vision of Marquez beating Pac isn't as bad as Floyd beating Pac lol. Pac has a chance at one of the biggest upsets in history over a 38 year old Floyd and look at what his fanatics are resorting to. They are still calling Floyd a coward, but now it's...Floyd waited for Pac to lose something lol.

Yup, it's always about Floyd. And that's what makes Floyd such a great businessman. Love him or hate him, they talk about him

Do you think he's fighting a declined Pacquiao? Is Pac fighting a declined Floyd? Why do you care either way? According to you Manny was great against Bradley and Algieri and Floyd was horrible against Maidana so advantage Manny right?
