has anyone in boxing history gets labeled a coward? i know there is plenty who gets labeled a ducker or cherry picker, but a coward? curious.
He's far from a coward but its clear he fights more for money than legacy ! But for anyone calling him a coward by all means lace em up and see how well you perform in that ring !
it is not only in forum, even mainstream media do it, maybe not exactly say it but implied. that is why he went on roid rage beating his baby momma, poking guards, letting his friends shot at people. there was too much pressure from everybody including hbo. he needed space, needed to get away from everybody and only jail can give that peace.
Well I don't hear too many of his peers saying he's a coward but all those in the media that do call him a coward have probably never boxed before ..At least the guys I heard like a merchant or that guy on Espn.
Like he said, if he's a coward, then he's a rich coward. He must have done something right througout his career to become the highest ranked and highest paid fighter in the sport.
a true sports fan hardly cares about what the boxers earned throughout their carreers. they want the best fight the best, that is what the sport is all about. leonard, tyson, dela hoya to name a few were at some point in their careers were mega millionaires. tyson lost his but managed to survive bankruptcy. he is actually in a better position now mentally and emotionally than at any point in his boxing life. ali is still earning off his name alone, a mainstay in torch-bearing in the olympics. point is, people dont talk about them because of the money they earned. you can also name a few who are not in the top echelon money-wise, boxing-wise. but people just wont forget about them because of the fight they gave us: gatti-ward, corrales-castillo and so fort. if you already earned your 100kk, the next 100kk hardly makes the same impact. people will look at you being successsful and stable financially, thats it. and people with insane amount of money wil try give back to the community/industry in an attempt to rewrite their legacy, if not alter its course: ie, bill gates plucking down 5billions to his foundation. in the future, there will be billionaire boxers and floyd's earnings will pale in comparison. he will be remembered as the guy who ducked the biggest fight in his era and the guy labeled by both fans and media as coward and he has admitted as such. if he loses his money in the future- which is not far fetched considering his gambling habit- he will have **** legacy and no money. he will be poor coward by then.
But Mayweather does that. He's fought plenty of top guys. In the end though, what would be the reason for him doing anything different? He's reached the highest status that you can reach in the sport. Every individual fan can have their own opinion about who should fight who. Obviously, it would be counterproductive to try to satisfy every inividual fan. It's an impossible task. If you're a fighter though, and you're the highest rated fighter, the highest paid fighter, and your fights bring in the most viewers, then why would you change? Wouldn't it appear that he's doing things the right way? People are gonna complain about Mayweather continuously for years to come. In the end though, he's done things his way and it's worked out for him. It may not be to your liking, but you'll still watch all of his fights and pay close attention to every interview he does.
wow, comparing top guys to pac vs. mayweather. wow, one guy doesnt need to fight the best because he is earning enough on his own, that is not a sport's fan position to take. what happens to the best fighting the best? if that is the position you take then i rest my case. there is nothing to argue.
Belt don't mean **** to Floyd...but one day he really really really hope they'll put his face on a belt .
STFU because ObamaCare himself said he was a coward. Oh wait...he never said that so stop putting words in his mouth atsch.
