I pretty much agree with everything Floyd says .. Although i had Marquez beating Pac in they're first fight, clearly, the Pac v Marquez rematch i had as a draw .. Mayweather will take Manny pac to pieces when they fight in October .. Manny Pac and Marquez are brilliant fighters at 130, 135 and 140. But facing Mayweather at 147 is Mission Impossible for these 2 guys ....
That's why Mayweather took the fight. I will not bother to watch that fight, esp. on PPV, waste of time and money. He will not fool me.
The facts are these; Pacquiao vs De La Hoya - 1.25million buys Mayweather vs De La Hoya - 2.5million buys Pacquiao vs Hatton - 850k buys Mayweather vs Hatton - 950k buys
There are mitigating factors for the other ppvs not being successes though. Pacquiao vs Hoya was considered a mis-match. Pacquiao vs Hatton didn't have two undefeated fighters, good vs evil etc.
I take it you're referring to whether Floyd's a draw or not? You also need to look into what Mayweather was generating in PPV prior to Oscar. Also, do those figures include UK PPV numbers or just US? Either way, Floyd made a fool of himself on that interview. Just avoiding perfectly reasonable questions made him appear like a complete dip**** - his defence for not fighting Mosley was painful. "He beat Margarito, who beat Cotto, who beat Shane..." The difference is that they all fought to PROVE who would win - just saying it counts for ****. Fighting a lightweight when you've spent years at 147 is shameful. chances are, this will prove whether Floyd is the raw he thinks he is. From recall his PPV numbers were so bad after Baldomir that HBO told him he was on WCB unless he faced a proper marquee name. Then Oscar came calling...
Ive heard that **** so many times & half the time or more it turns out to be a competitive fight, with the `underdog` winning on a lot of occassions. Pac & JMM cant be wrote off, especially Pac, who is younger & looks mega comfortable at these higher weights, possibly even looks his best ever. I myself think Mayweather will beat both.... but the reason is because he is a better boxer than both, not because he has some david v goliath type advantage, which is bull**** anyway. Ps. great interview, Id seen it before but it was worth another watch. :good
Floyd isnt the cash cow he thinks he is.....alot was down to DLH and Hattons PPV power. He dismisses Pac due to his teenage losses at flyweight...but the fact is Manny has more quality wins and did a far better job on DLH and Hatton.
Cuz Floyd got to them first. FM vs DLH was a massive hype job and was Oscars last big chance....People start to lose interest when a guys getting beat in every meaningful fight. The numbers for the Hatton fights are similar..as far as i know they havent been fully revealed. But Hatton still had his '0' heading into the Floyd fight and had more people on his bandwagon.
Woah, that was a heated interview. Definitely some bad blood. Brian Kenny does get props for staying professional. I get bitter towards the boxers who say 'you ain't boxed, you don't know ****'. Can detectives not understand criminals unless they become one first! Journalists take away the ego and assess boxers neutrally - that is their job. Floyd has to break JMM and then move onto Pac. Boxing is a better place with Floyd, no matter whether you love him or hate him BUT he has to perform or he'll kill boxing. The fans are ready to watch him but we can't see DLH part 2 ever again.
