"I don't think he expected me to be so tall or big, even though I walk around at 147 (pounds), I'm still a big welterweight," he said."

And if floyd is a small WW like floyd fans wants to claim, he could have made the 144 catchweight against jmm 6 years ago.

Thanks for the link, Pugs! Still don't consider him a particularly big WW when there are guys in the division coming in at 160 but I've never considered him small either. He's just normal sized.

anyone calling floyd or many big ww needs a helmet. theyre in a situation where at ww they can make the weight comfortably but if they boiled down they could make lww.

Doubt Floyd could make LWW anymore or he would have made 144 for Marquez. Maybe he could. But his body seems very balanced at 140. Manny could make 140 no questions asked.

Floyd fights at about the same weight as many top LIGHTWEIGHTS.

That doesn't necessarily mean he has the body composition or metabolism to actually make lightweight. But if we are talking about what he weighs when he fights (which is surely the most objective measure of "size" in a sport based on weight classes) he is literally the size of a decent-sized modern lightweight. If that isn't a "small WW" I don't know what is.

Marquez signed an official contract extending the weight maximum to 147 pounds. It therefore was not a catchweight fight.

Why Mayweather wanted the change from 144 to 147? Probably because the one million dollars paid to Marquez was worth not sweating out the extra pounds for him. But I don't know that for a fact... Golovkin did the same thing when facing Rosado when he changed the weight limit from 158 pounds to 160 pounds after the initial contract was signed and agreed to at 158 pounds. I don't see the same backlash for Golovkin. I wonder why?

I didn't know that and stand corrected if it's true. I did know about the Golovkin fight w/ Rosado but it had always been presented that Rosado pushed for the fight to be at 160 after the 158 contract was signed because he wanted to fight at the full limit. Could just be HBO/ESPN bias presenting it this way. I'll criticize all fighters equally, so don't look me.

Floyd weighed 148 against Maidana. He's small. Danny garcia is bigger than him.

And you believe what was shoveled? That Rosado wanted the weight increase... yet he was compensated financially for it as well? I think you got conned, my man.

For the record, Mayweather/Marquez weight change happened the week before the fight. So obviously it's sketchy and a bit lame but it is factually inaccurate when people cite it as a "catchweight" fight. It was not.

It happened just before the weigh in. 99% of the whole time leading up to the fight, everyone knows it's a catchweight fight until floyd refused to make the agreed upon catchweight and cheated marquez off the scale.

I know you love floyd and would always give him an excuse for making jmm jump two divisions and cheating him on the scales.

Pac can definitely make 140 with no problem. Roach thinks it is his natural weight at this his current age. But no way floyd can make 140. He can't even make 144 six years ago.

I believe you, both are lame then. Do you have sources handy? I'm on my phone. I'd guess nobody cares about the Rosado fight because Rosado is Rosado and Marquez is a big name but that doesn't make it any less lame.
