No it's not. Roy fought better fighters and dominated them in more impressive ways. When it comes to being the better P4P fighter or P4P H2H fighter, I don't think you could put anybody over Jones.. certainly not Floyd, who's style isn't great against him.

wow, anyone could land a jab on ruiz...

floyd's skills are superior to these two. his speed, agility, footwork and defense are better than bhop. his ring intelligence and defense are better than rjj. he beats either at equal weight.

Howabout Toney and Hopkins? Has Mayweather fought anyone on that level yet? Howabout the way he destroyed B+ level guys like Griffin, Hill, Gonzalez, and Woods easily?

I knew I shouldn't have gotten involved in this thread because it puts me in the position to defend RJJ which if you knew me is incomprehensible!!!!!!!!!

But to the point at hand- You listed Toney,Hopkins,Tarver and Reggie Johnson, I think you would need to include Virgil Hill to that list also. Looking at that competition (which is pathetic for an ATG considering the list of guys that were available such as DM,Collins,Liles,McCleland,Benn,Hopkins rematch, etc.) but none the less was on par with who Floyd has fought. Neither guy has fought an ATG in his prime.

Floyds best wins are against Corrales (not even a hall of famer), Jose Luis Castillo, (not a hall of famer), and DLH (hall of famer atleast 5 years past his prime). These are equivalent or possibly even less than Roy's wins against Hopkins( hall of famer), Toney (possible hall of famer), Hill (possible HOF) and Johnson.

I used that fight as an example that Roy actually does have a jab, and their are several others that prove he did have a very good jab.

Roy never had the guts of floyd and never fought a fighter as good and tough as castillo. Floyd is more old school than Roy was, defensively. Roy has all the raw tools floyd does, but PBF is FAR MORE polished. John Ruiz???? That win means nothing to me.

If you are going to say Bhop was green then you must say that RJJ was green at the time as well. Also---after Bhop lost to Jones---when did he lose again?

The Ruiz win is equivalent to Floyd beating a current top five light heavy, which I don't think he could do. Ruiz was at the time a top five heavyweight (as sad as that is) and RJJ started at 160 (technically 154) and moved up to fight at around 200 lbs. Thats a 40 lb. jump in weight. If you look at the opponents weight it was actually more like a jump of 65 lbs. So, with Floyd starting out at 130, a 40 lb. jump in weight would be against a light heavy and I sure don't think Floyd has what if takes to win against an absolutely much larger man such as Dawson,Tarver,Hopkins,Erdei,Johnson,Woods, etc.

Also- Jose Luis Castillo is better than James Toney or Bernard Hopkins????? Now you're just being ridiculous.

I believe Mayweather is a master in the art of boxing but a guy like RJJ in his prime was a phenomenal athlete with cat like reflexes, blazing speed, great power and very good mobility in the ring. No other boxer could throw a greater number of continuous punches right on the money.

Floyd is the better boxer and RJJ, the better natural athlete !

And by the way...speed at 168 or 175 ain't supposed to be the same as speed at 147....RJJ still showed much more speed than most good boxers under 160 !

RAIDERJAY Roy is a big man floyd is a little man. That's it. Welterweight and Middleweight is a big jump. You can't compare floyd and roy in size. Toney or Hopkins are great but not pressure fighters like castillo. Hopkins just sparred with Roy that wasnt a fight... cmon Toney ill give you
