I re watched the Floyd - Maidana fight and this is the emerging conclusion, Floyd is just average at this point, and a case of him loosing this fight can be made easy. This is copied from another thread so here it goes, feel free to counter my arguments: Floyd lost the fight because he simply did not throw enough and that is because Maidana was always approaching him carefully with a good defensive guard and pushed him in the ropes where he got hit to the body and he did nothing most of the time. I don;t care Maidana was unable to land clear shots on the inside because Floyd just exposed his body by keeping the guard up and countering rarely - there is nothing to hit at this point except the body . He did well in 7-10 rounds he looked more in control this is where Maidana failed to maintain the game plan and stayed in the center too much. Floyd is just a fighter with impressive reaction times and will always win to slow fighters that come to throw 1 punch in the ring center or gas out after a few rounds. He is no where near being an all time great, he was unable to trouble Maidana AT ALL because his offense against a decent fighter is just crap, he creates no agles, has no combinations to break the guard, he is just a lazy counter puncher that has no response when there is nothing to counter he brings nothing to the table.
5 weight champion. 46-0 Beaten over 20 title holders Beaten about half a dozen HOF fighters. Limited counterpuncher. Makes sense.
you;re forgetting the cherry picking, anyone can look great with careful chosen opponents that fail to address his world class attribute: reaction time please refute my points if you can ...
He is a special counterpuncher and his accuracy combined with his superb defense against TEXTBOOK guys makes him unbeatable against orthodox fighters. Awkwardness and broken rhythm coupled with pressure and unpredictability give him problems. I think Castillo gave him problems for several reasons: he doesn't lead off the jab but throws whatever: lead uppercut from either hand, at range or in close, hooks from either hand, double left hooks, lead rights, and had good power and decent speed in his feet to pressure relentlessly. Castillo is way more unpredictable than, say, JMM even though he has an orthodox stance. The awkward attack variety, throwing from "wherever" does not mean Floyd is a limited counterpuncher, but his style works better against some than others. In the fights where the shoulder roll didn't work (Augustus, Judah, Mitchell, Corley) he just had to outfight those guys, and he was better than them in every way. He wouldn't really survive an undisciplined brawl with Chino as he would against Corley.
I presented arguments please address them or gtfo my thread I am talking about Maidana fight because this guy had the game plan to expose Floyd for what he really is ...
Yes a 46-0 champion Best fighter in the world Top 20-30 ATG, much higher than Pac Pac got knocked out by a 40 year old man Floyd shut out 12-0 Marquez didn't lay a punch on him. :rofl Not wasting anymore time with you, this **** thread will either 1. Moved to the whine thread 2. Slide further and further into absolute obscurity. This content is protected :hi::hi::hi:
bullsh*t. Floyd is anything but limited. He's beatable which is a surprise to a lot of his followers but the man is an incredible boxer. He's just like anyone else.....there are always weaknesses and certain styles will always cause other styles problems. But it takes a lot more than the right style and gameplan to beat Floyd.
completely agree he is the perfect single hit counter puncher because of his incredible reaction time but sadly this only works if he knows when to counter, didn't worked against an awkward style as Maidana's and I would argue that Marquez is way better at reading the opponent because he is smarter;this is what I meant with limited, he can only counter punch some one easy to read and totally predictable and goes inno his defensive shell otherwise
U floyd haters need to get a brain and a life Everyday it's the same non nonsensical bull**** from u guys
getting yourself to believe this, i mean actually believe is pretty big man. some people can get themselves to believe anything, no matter how ridiculous it truly is
hey maybe he should have fought the best in his prime instead of avoiding and we would know more about him no? He is declaring himself as the best of his time and I simply laugh at that. He is a good boxer I know that, but my points still stand he has many many flaws am I not allowed to notice them?
and still won. People seem to be forgetting that part, or on purposely sweeping that under the carpet
