i agree that pbf is mentally stronger than shane in a way. but i wouldnt call him mentally "weak", there's no way that he can become a champion and a p4p fighter if he's like that.

explain to me how someone who is mentally weak moves up to 154 to fight Winky Wright, loses a lopsided decision, takes an immediate rematch and makes a ****ing close fight out of it.

Totally agree with this. The thread starter seems to lack the understanding of what mental toughness means. If Mayweather faced the same competition as Mosley I'm sure his "0" would have gone long ago.

The level of opposition Floyd has faced does not even remotely compare to Shane. Its easy to look mentally strong when you don't fight anybody, or your biggest fights are against smaller guys or fighters past their prime.

Did you even watch the first Forrest fight?

Mosley never fully recovered from the headbutt/knockdown and was disoriented for the remainder or the fight. He was getting his ass handed to him by a bigger/taller fighter and he still kept trying to win.

He even won the last round, even though he knew he was losing that fight. He still tried to knock Vernon out in the last round.

    Thats a mentally strong fighter.

Hatton, who's best weight was at 140 (admitted he's not a welterweight after the Collazo fight).

:patsch So thats the only one you can come up with?

Given that Hatton walks around at a higher rate...I dont think we can count him! Technically, Hatton is the larger man given that he has to cut so much weight to fight in his weight class...Floyd may be TALLER but Hatton has the bigger frame!

Something else...Why is it Floyd's fault when Hatton and Billy Graham declined the fight at 140??? Ricky should have thought about that when he had the chance to fight him at his best weight...He refused! So why should Floyd have to go out of his comfort zone when Ricky already had his chance at Floyd at 140???:huh

And you can gauge that by watching a fighter fight?

Did Mosley ever quit? Did Mayweather fought someone who made him bleed, example getting a beating like he did to Gatti.

Mental toughness can only be seen through adversity. When you are winning, who would know?

Example : Freitas when being outworked by a light-punching Juan Diaz

    or Cotto during Margarito fight.

Now, if Mosley would make this fight very very ugly and dirty, we will see how mentally tough Mayweather is.

No man is mentally weak when his whole life is spent in a gym. Do you realize that working out and staying in shape is mostly a mental thing? No man is mentally weak when he fights for a living. No man is mentally weak for fighting injured.

To get off the ground and continue with Forrest he was extremely mentally weak for that right? To lose to Forrest and Winky badly and still comeback for a rematch, shows just how weak he is right? Emotional yes, but mentally weak NO!! Lets see how strong Floyd is after he loses his 2nd fight(**** WHAT ANYONE SAYS CASTILLO WON!!) in May. We'll probably have to put Floyd on suicide watch.

Floyd is mentally weak because he edged out a "controversial" victory against Castillo while fighting with a torn rotator cuff? What does that make Mosley? "my tooth hurts, i need some vacation, etc etc etc..."

I'm not saying Mosley is mentally weak (I actually think he's one of the toughest people to step into the ring) but Floyd haters, it goes both ways.
