Clearly I said after he loses in May. Just because I think he lost to Castillo doesn't mean that I'm a hater. I'm actually a Floyd fan, BUT i think Shane is mentally stronger. Hell he won his last fight right after a divorce. Some fighters would've been sorry in those conditions, ask Tyson(lol cheapshot i know.)

Mayweather clearly lost the last round of the Castillo fight, and that was a round he should have NEEDED to win to get the verdict, but he didn't have it in him to do so, so before we go saying he is mentally stronger than Shane, we should acknowledge that both men have found certain situations very difficult in their careers - except obviously Shane has had more since he has fought far stronger opposition.

I think both guys are very mentally strong, and that it won't be an issue on the night. Neither will have an ounce of quit in them, both will be grimly determined to win. I think the physical will be more important than the mental in this one.

I never said you were a hater. My post was directed to the real haters who do nothing but criticize PBF. I agree with you that both men are mentally strong, they wouldn't have gotten to where they're at had they not been determined and disciplined. Those two attributes are directly linked to mental toughness...

WTF ? Shane mentally gave up then why did he rematch Forrest and Wright ASAP ? Why then did he make a late rally vs Cotto ? You see Shane put in tough situations because once he left his natural weight he actually took risk. Floyd fought the best at 130 and 135 then went up and fought journeymen, featherweights and old people.

Dude he could've sat on his stool like Tszyu or a Klitschko:tong

:dealTorn rotator cuff= a lot of pain....you have to be mentally tough to even continue a fight in that state let alone win the damn thing

Mentally strong? Mosley just destroyed Maragarito when he was in the middle of a divorce. Not to mention fighting Cotto to a draw, in my opinion, despite having marital problems even then. Had he not taken a break in the 11th round, he would have won. Everyone says he got his ass kicked by Cotto but you have to look at the fight objectively and score it round by round. It was a draw!

Agreed...he took it to Cotto in the later rounds of that fight. He rocked Cotto in the 3rd. A timeout by the ref saved Cotto in the tenth. Otherwise, Mosley would have won.

I disagree with this because Floyd never had to deal with being down on the cards really late in the fight, coming off the mat because a punch sent him there, or being outboxed so we'll really never know. I think he could recuperate from this better than Mosley but Shane has been through these and Floyd hasn't so who knows. If anything Shane rallied against Oscar in the rematch when he was losing and against Castillo 1 Floyd let himself get outworked. He evn rushed Forrest in the first round of the rematch knowing he went down in the first fight and gave Wright a tougher second fight.

I'm struggling to think of a fight where Mayweather was the underdog, went to war, dug deep and overcame adversity - these are the elements which we can use to judge a fighters mental strength. Mayweather's never been in with a prime version of a great fighter, Mosley has.

Mentally stronger is a crook of BS. An argument can be made for Floyd being smarter, because I think Floyd is a little smarter. Mosley obsession for a knockout doesn't help him all the time. But mentally stronger is ridiculous. All you have to do is watch Shane Mosley climb off the canvas in the first Forrest fight and make it the distance to see how mentally tough he is. 99% of most fighters would have been kayoed if they were dropped like that, but Mosley managed to survive. Floyd has never been hurt in a fight, lets see how he reacts then make your opinion on the matter.

He did get hurt by Judah and Corley and came back to win those fights. Even in the fight with Carlos Hernandez he broke his hand and fought through it to win. Floyd is tough but has yet to face the problems Shane has in his career like the one you stated about the knockdown Shane suffered in the 2nd round of the first fight with Forrest.

If you look at Shane's career from its beginning to now, it epitomizes MENTAL TOUGHNESS. Shane didn't get a shot at the title until late 20's. It takes mental toughness to stay focused. He didn't get a chance at a major fight until he was damn near 30 years old. Again that takes mental toughness to stay focused. After losses he stayed focused and maintained his high standard of training even while not having a fight lined up.

I can't say for sure who is more mentally tough, but at the same time I don't think there is any evidence to say Shane is less mentally tough than PBF either.
