Potshot and back pedaling is the only way to defeat Pacman at this point in his career, never ever brawl with him.

Roy only said that because he was embarressed Del Valle knocked him down. He wasn't saying that after he whupped Reggie Johnson...and from what I heard, Floyd beat Zab's ass when they sparred. Listen, Mayweather is clearly the more skilled of the two...but sometimes, toughness, heart, determination and power can overcome skill. Castillo beat Floyd the first time they fought... I don't care what anybody says... and Castillo is no Manny Pacquiao. Again, if Floyd ever fought Manny, I believe he would dominate the fight until he got stopped. Thats just how I see it.

This isnt me saying this check the Vegas numbers , when the fight has been set 2 / 3 times , floyd has always been the betting under dog against manny. Im not saying that is right , but the bookies have it this way. Bert Sugar pointed this to one of the reasons for the breakdown in talks as Floyd has always been the favourite before.

I agree. I'm just playing devils advocate really. Like I said before I think Floyd will stay well out of range and make Manny overextend and counter whilst using the jab and straight right from the outside. When I watched Floyd against Marquez his footwork and use of angles as you mentioned was great. I'm just pointing out that to get pushed back to the ropes and lingering there like he did against Hatton a bit and against De la Hoya I feel would cause him to ship some serious punishment from Pacquiao's southpaw stance and awkward punching angles.

I think in general that is the opinion, Floyd is the better defensive fighter and the better counterpuncher, but Manny is the better active fighter and I think he has the better footwork than Floyd. Floyd always says he will adapt and he usually does, but it will be interesting to see who wins the battle of the angles and positioning. Floyd uses his upperbody more, shoulder rolls, and can fight off the ropes, while Manny bounces off his toes in and out side to side and both are accurate. Floyd is the more resourceful of the 2, but will the Pacman early onslaught affect Floyd? I know he won't be a sitting duck, but I don't see Floyd winning a toe to toe battle with Pacman anytime soon. Floyd will have some success with the jab and then a counter after that, but one shot from Manny gets through his defense and Manny is capable of stopping him.

You act like Pacquiao's footwork is less than suberb. He doesn't have classical orthodox boxer footwork, but there is nobody who uses his feet to set up different shots faster than MP..

These guys believe in their hearts that Floyd would school Manny, but apparently Floyd doesn't actually believe it himself.

Who to believe, keyboard boxers or the actual boxer himself?

To say Manny would get schooled by Floyd, is like saying Judah/Corley is so much better than Pac. :rofl

That will never be the consensus opinion in the ESB General Forum. I have never seen such a HATRED for an athlete, that their opinion of his accomplishment and skill/talent goes un-noticed or un-appreciated. There have been so many "Hypothetical" fight thread matching Floyd versus fighters like Mayorga, Tszyu, Fretias, Casamayor, Tito, and fighters like Barrera, Morales, Chavez at 130lbs. And Overwhelmingly the Polls and Posters will have Floyd getting Decisioned easily and/or Stopped. That is just ****ing ridiculous. And recently some poster (who is not worthy to mention by name) had the nerve to create a thread titled: "THE HATE FOR KHAN IS ASTOUNDING"...Really, For Khan...Seriously?

Look, I get it. Floyd...The Man, makes is easy to hate him. In fact, as a fan, I have a very strong disdain for all the **** Mayweather says and does. But I am a BOXING FAN FIRST AND FOREMOST. My decision about what happens inside the ring is not nor ever will be based on a Fighters Personality and/or behavior outside the ring. That's just ****ING JUVENILE. And posters hatred of Floyd is why they have NO problem thinking that Tzsyu, Mayorga and Tito would KO Floyd in 9 rounds. That's ****ing Comic Book Material.

So yeah...to the OP, Floyd is more skillful than Manny. In fact, Floyd is more skillful at 34 than damn near every fighter fighting today. But No-one (the majority) in ESB will never agree because their opinions are deluded with emotional hatred instead Boxing Knowledge

Floyd will go toe to toe with Manny in the fight at times and it wil be on the inside bc Manny as great as he is, is a horrible inside fighter plus on the inside the Southpaw advantage will vanish and Floyd will go to that Philly Shell and **** Manny up.

It sounds like you're the one worried about emmanuel's footwork being less than superb.

Why would I be worried about emmanuel's footwork? Floyd has the greater footwork.

A few reasons why this is shitty analysis.

    1) Castillo LOST to Floyd twice rather u acknowledge it or not.

    2) Regardless of how competitive the 1st fight was, it was back in 2002. That's 8 yrs ago. Pacquiao went life and death with Marquez twice in 2004, and then again in 2008. Do you therefore think that I should use those fights as a gauge to determine how he would fair against Mayweather, since Mayweather after all is superior to Marquez?

People bringing up the Castillo fight, when analyzing a potential Mayweather/Pacquiao fight show themselves to be ignorant, or idiotic posters with no boxing knowledge.

    I think ya'll are underestimating Pac's tallent.

Fighters have been nulified in the past by guys that could exploit them through their tallent as opposed to their ability.

Now, I'm not saying Pac is the fighter that will exploit this nor Mayweather is ready to be exploited, but this has happened...

...so it's not out of the realm that it could happen again.

:thumbsup, I like how you pointed out conventional wisdom.

Some of these cats still think fights are all about speed or power. If that was the case, fights like Amir-Maidana wouldn't be so competitive.

I get confused by these cats sometimes. They think it's all about little traits like power, but common conventional wisdom is that punches you don't see are the ones that hurt. It's like they don't even listen.

They know the ingredients, but they don't know how to use them to cook the recipe.
