Yes you are correct if I study hard enough I will become Isaac Newton, or if I practice jumping enough, I will dunk like Jordan.

Maybe if I flap my arms enough, I will fly away.

    This thread is ******ed.

Tim Bradley has worked extremely hard all his life too. Is he as good as Floyd? Hell no!

Reason being....... Floyd is just a lot more naturally talented than Bradley.

It takes hard work AND talent.

That is complete bull**** man. That is like saying you can become anything you want in life. Big ****ing no! I cannot become as smart as enstein no matter how hard I study, I cannot hit as hard as julious jackson no matter how many times I hit the punching bag.

And khan will never have margaritos chin no matter how hard he trains.

I've taken college courses taught by leading psychologists that proved otherwise. Not only that, I've witnessed this myself throughout life. I progressed at sports and musical ability much quicker than people who practiced way more than I did. Have you heard of the theory of multiple intelligences?

It's not proven, and it's skeptical, but the underlying principle just seems to be obvious.

But some people being more naturally predisposed to be more talented in certain areas is not a "myth." If that was the case, everybody would be equally as talented, and skilled if they simply practiced as much, and dedicated themselves as much as the next man.

Maybe talent is the wrong word to describe it, but natural "predisposition" to becoming more talented in certain things is certainly not a myth.

I do agree that nurture is always a bigger factor than nature, but there's definitely aspects of both required to become as talented as a guy like FLoyd.

He takes "vacations" aka cycles off. It's not hard to make the conclusion.

Defense is natural talent. If he wasn't a natural talent he wouldn't have beat Hatton who also started really young and lived in the gym until late in his career when he finally started making money and let himself go.

I think you cannot teach the defense that Floyd has. I think his offense is good but it's not special, I think Hatton, Cotto, Pacquiao, all have good offense because you can learn that but you cannot learn to have the reflexes and natural defense.

Floyd has very long arms, thin waist, and good eyes. That is not a result of hard work.

Vision and reflex are a gift. Having long arms is a gift. Floyd has that.

I think his footwork and his speed are a result of training as you can make your footwork better or your hands faster but you cannot make your reflexes good if you never had them and you cannot make your eyes good if you never had 20/20 vision etc.

    Exactly.

If there was a recipe available to produce this kind of talent, we would have far too many to discuss. Fact is, too many boxers did start at a very young age too, very few displayed this kind of ability.

Prime Mosley did but Mosley didn't have the high ring IQ.
