Floyd is not fighting Cotto next

Here's why I strongly believe he is not. And I haven't seen anyone mention this.

Top Rank is negotiating with Showtime (Les Moonves) to get a Mayweather fight. If Top Rank has to go through Showtime, Cotto would too. Showtime does not want a Cotto fight next, they can kill or sabotage that notion. And if Top Rank has to go through Showtime, that means Floyd is not picking his fights under Showtime contract (if I'm not mistaken, they have to sign off on it).

Plus, Mayweather-Cotto II is a bad fight for everyone involved and they know this.

Actually this is a good point.
Isnt Cotto part of the HBO stable?

Wrong. Cotto would have to get a Mayweather fight the same way Top Rank would.

So Cotto being a free agent has nothing to do with the Showtime/Mayweather contract, I thought you'd know this. You're so fixed on trying to prove me wrong you didn't think...

Yeah I mentioned that difficulty on other thread.

Its not so much that SHO doesnt like the fight.. but rather Floyd would have to dig into his own guarantees. Because on top of Floyds 32m, there is no way SHO offers up another 8 figure guarantee.

Which I think is what Les has basically been angling for, and why he got involved. He is sending the message that Floyd either needs to take Manny - or take a pay cut.

Also, Les getting personally involved... pretty much proves the theories and speculation that SHO/CBS has been taking a massive bath on the contract. Similar to when they worked with HBO for Tyson-Lewis , they did that because they were in the hole with Tyson and needed to recoup.

Alex you just owned most of the people on this forum. Very rare to see insightful and annaytical people on this forum. Most here are just sheep and jump on the latest rumour.
