Floyd has done what no fighter from the lower classes (modern era) has done. he has defeated every ring champion from 130-154 during his time.

Defeating ricky hatton who was the ring champion soldified his reign as one of the greatest champion of the modern era.

the other super grand champions are:

    1. sugar ray leoanrd
    2. Roy Jones Jr.
    3. Pernell Whitaker
    4. Roberto Duran
    5. Bernard Hopkins
    6. Marvin Hagler
    7. Thomas Hearns
    8. Julio Caeser Chavez
    9. Aaron Pryor
    10. Alexis Arguello

Was Oscar De La Hoya a Ring Champion at 154?

PBF never beat the Ring champion at 130 (cuz there wasn't one) or 135 (He was the first one awarded the belt, Castillo never held it) or at 154 (there is no Ring champion there, and DLH wasn't even the top ranked fighter in Ring at the weight, Spinks was).

Praise him, he deserves it, but at least keep it honest.

I'm pretty sure ring magazine named champions even before they started giving out a belt.

He didn't even beat the Ring champ at 140 - as the fight was at welterweight. (He did beat him of course - but you know what I mean.)

So actually, he's beat one ring champ at 147?

    And not

    130
    135
    140
    154.

    Hey, 1 out 5 isn't bad bigtime.

by the way, that's not taking anything away from Floyd, but like the post above says, at least post stuff that's true.

Nope, they just rated them #1 as far as I know. The rankings simply said #1. If you look at the history of Ring, it stops listing champions at all weight classes (except HW) in 1989 (HW went until 91 I think). Then picks up again.

    And nobody has even said

What the **** is a "Super Grand Champion" anyway??

Who proclaims a "Super Grand Champion" - sounds like something kids call themselves in the playground.

    Kid 1 - I'm the champion
Kid 2 - Well, so what, I'm the Grand Champion
Kid 3 - Hey, screw you, I'm the SUPER Grand Champion.
    Kid 1 & Kid 2 - ah, **** man.

Either way, they were still naming champions before they were giving out a belt, which was my origional point.

130- Genaro Hernandez (rated #1 by Ring)
135- Jose Luis Castillo (Rated #1 by Ring)
    140- Ricky Hatton (Ring Champion)
    147- Carlos Baldomir (ring Champion)

No they weren't. It says they stopped naming champions in 1989, or ceased publication on every one of those except HW which happened in 1992. Your article is only referring to the fact that Ring and another magazine usually kept up with the lineal title and recognized the HW champions. Ring was not naming their own champion, which is seperate from Lineal anyways, from 1989 to 2001.
