He deserves an awful amount of credit. But when you're putting guys in the top ten of all time, you're really putting them under the microscope and an*lysing everything in detail.

Not having beaten a fellow ATG while they were prime, hurts him in my opinion.

Statistics always look impressive, until you start really breaking them down.

In boxing, if Fighter A has won titles in more weight classes than Fighter B, that doesn't necessarily mean that Fighter A has accomplished the most overall. You have to allow for any and all circumstancs.

    He's not even top 20 of all-time.

    He's a great fighter though

But you can't compare fighting Cotto, to fighting a peak Hearns.

Canelo was at his peak and Mayweather diminished him. I think Mayweather could easily outbox Golovkin but it's a dangerous fight. For his final fight why not?

All these people saying he is not in the top 20? Name 20 guys who are greater.

Canelo is green at the top level and ggg is like an amalgamation of all of the attributes that Floyd has trouble with.

Mayweather was only able to decision Canelo because he required Canelo to drain himself to 152 making him a less energized and less healthy fighter. Canelo agreed to it because that was the only way Floyd would fight Canelo.

Depsite all that draining, he STILL ended up with a close majority decision. Floyd fans could have said what you said IF Floyd had not required a catch weight. If Floyd would have just fought Canelo straight up. But no, Floyd had to have him drained so he was weak, because Floyd didn't think he could beat regular ol' Canelo. You can't say Canelo was at his peak when he was a drained fighter. (a requirement that Mayweather made to if Canelo didn't comply would have lost a large portion of his purse)

Do you honestly believe those 2 pounds made a difference? Maybe Canelo shouldn't be telling media outlets he'd go down to 150 lbs to make a fight with Floyd happen. Essentially Mayweather called his bluff. Also, no one put a gun to canelo's head to sign the fight at the CW, he knew what he was getting himself into.

Also you sure you want to stick with the weight draining excuse when the fight RIGHT BEFORE floyd he weighed in at 153 lbs (the Trout fight weigh-in.)

Also, do you honestly believe that fight was a MD? By my scorecards, I didn't have Alvarez win more than 3 rounds, and that's being generous.

He came off an impressive win over an undefeated Austin Trout and after being dominated by Floyd, he's beaten Angulo and the highly regarded Erislandy Lara. Canelo just had a terrible gameplan for FLoyd, he actually thought he had a chance to outbox the guy in the early rounds.

We all know why he retired.Same reason he didn't fight Sergio after mentioning his name.

I wouldn't class Cotto as an ATG, but he was never the same to me after Marg.

I do accept that Floyd is nearly 40, and is a true ATG.

    I've no issue with that.

    He's a remarkable fighter, who's had a great career.

Pure Unadulterated Bull Feces!!! Floyd isn't in the top 50
Had he fought the fighters he ducked years ago he'd maybe beat them all & THEN he would have been ranked higher in the ATG list, Heck he didn't have to beat them all just have the confidence & courage to fight them. Even Ali & Robinson lost a few

Floyd would have beaten Marg theoretically. But in reality, would he have taken the fight, even if he'd have been his best option at the time? I have my doubts.

This is why a guy like SRL deserves so much credit.

Can you honestly have seen Floyd sign to fight the likes of Hearns and Duran, let alone beat them?

There's no way in the world that Floyd would even consider fighting GGG in my opinion.

Nobody with any knowledge would rank him in the top 2, even if he does retire undefeated.

He won't get any credit if he takes Cotto's MW belt.
