There was no lay off? Im not a Mayweather fan but ask anyone who knows anything not only about boxing but sport in general and they will tell you when you dont perform for 19 months (buy the time Floyd fights it would have been around 19) thats a lond ass lay off and will probably have an effect.

Being in the gym and staying in shape is one thing, but 19 months off is 19 months off i dont care how many days he had in the gym

Hatton might want to keep this in mind, cause now if he loses his trainer son will make big pay day, an more so then a repeat with hatton, an now even if he beat pacman (which i see happening) he will not be ranked p4p #1,,I know that had to be a big motivation for him,,,i hope these things don't play with his mind, i am sure floyd jr planned it this way,,,,,,

He won't beat Floyd, anyway. He wants the rematch for another big pay day.

I think you miss my point.

First of all Peter isnt that great now is he. Its not like Vitali came back from the lay off to whoop Muhammad Ali.

Secondly im not saying fighters cant come off long lay offs and win. Oscar came off a 24 month lay off and slaughtered Mayorga. (Once again a good victory but a low level/skilled opponent)

My point was the other poster said there has basically been no lay off, im saying there has been a lay off, a long 19 month lay off that can affect you. Especially a fighter like Floyd who relies so much on speed and reflex to win fights.

if you going to stay in gym and train and not fight is crazy.he took a long break and spend some time with the family and probably spend too much of what he warn and tries to get back some money.

leonard also did pretty good against hagler after a three year layoff. but then again, leonard was a true great in the ring not just in the mouth.

Ugh, it ****ing annoys me when people here throw around the word "official" without knowing what it means. This would be official if Mayweather had a press conference where he announced that he's coming back. He didn't. All this information is coming from anonymous sources. I'm sure he IS coming back, but it's not official yet.

Definitley will be official today. I kind of thought he might do it today, the day Pacquiao fights Hatton! lol

Well only a true hater thinks it's some sort of tune-up to fight JMM after so long off. Floyd said before the Hatton fight he was taking a "long break".

He's just been P4P #1 in recess! He needed time to get his desire back. Haters will say it's just for money but the guy don't need any money. This will cement his legacy as one of the best ever when he's done this time!

How do you know it'll be announced today? And how do you know he doesn't need money? Are you friends with him? I doubt it.

    And there it is.

This is what he knew some fans would think and claim. And that is why he 'retired' for 17 months.

However, this was a Hollywood retirement. A World Wrestling Federation retirement. This is no Ali refusing to participate in the war, no Vitaly running for Major of Moscow and so on - just Floyd training and sparring thinking about when enough months have passed.

"You will get more respect and fame if you fake a retirement and the come back, Floyd".
