His upper body movement was amazing last night. Ortiz is a big welter, you make a mistake and get tagged you're going to be hurt. Can't complain about the way it ended either, although I would have liked to see how things would have gone along.

You're the one that, when challenged about Floyd's mediocre record at 140+, said sarcastically that Floyd must be rubbish. Bit late to be arguing the middle ground when you avoided it earlier.

I think most people agree at less than 140 he's got a borderline great resume. His higher weight successes add to that, but don't distinguish him.

You are right. I entered this discussion frustrated at the posts from people who claim Floyd is just another also ran. I posted aggressively instead of considered, which isn't my style.

I absolutely believe Floyd is one of the modern greats. His CV is comparable to anybody.

My initial point in the thread was how many people on this forum can claim a fighter as great as Floyd Mayweather, well, isn't.

No one said that to my knowledge.

That's like me saying 'how many people on this forum can claim a fighter like Floyd Mayweather is this great'. It's all down to opinions. Fact is though, his resume doesn't compare favourably to a lot of 'greats'. With your deep historical knowledge, you will know this.

Interesting post Flea man. I love the subtle dig. Good skills.:good

Another frustrating element of this forum is the inability for posters to discuss like adults.

Fair enough. I obviously rate him. Wouldn't have gotten up at 3am to watch otherwise. I enjoyed his performance too. I think he's the epitome of a replay fighter. Very little drama live, but fascinating to watch on replay.

Unfortunately, his attitude and selective matchmaking as he's gotten older do have a negative effect. But he could erase all of that by beating Pacquiao. His insistence on drug testing just seems like his usual control tactics.

:huh It genuinely wasn't, every time I've seen you post in the past I've pretty much agreed with you. I'm not known for subtle digs, stop with your woe is me attitude.

The thing is about this though, is that Mr Pacquiao has a very similar record at 140 or above to FM.

If the record of FM makes him just a really good fighter, then fighting and beating another 'really good fighter' proves nothing?*

*(This is not what I think, but the content of this thread would draw this conclusion from many, it would seem)

Hey, you're talking to a stoner, I misinterpret **** all the time ;-)

Trust me, my cusses are usually along the lines of 'you're a thick ****'....not much subtlety :D You said earlier on you could pretty much go tit-for-tat on history with anyone here, I took your word for it. Wasn't taking the ****, I appreciate a genuine historical debate on here, ask anyone, that's what I'm here for :good

Well, Pac's been fighting regularly, wiping out good opposition in impressive, dominant style. That's why Pac gets something of a pass. He knocked the stuffing out of Oscar, Hatton, Cotto, Clottey and Margarito all in a row. That's pretty impressive for a guy his size.

I discount the Mosley fight from Manny and Floyd's accomplishments. It's a meaningless victory at this stage of Shane's career.
