But him fighting Marquez. Like like Pac fighting Vazquez at 130. Nothing more then tuneup at 147. At 144 I would give Marquez a small chance, but slim just flew out the window at 147. U got Bradly, mosley, cotto and clottey, why marquez. If he wanted an easy comeback fight, go for at least berto or holt. At least their near his weight. Marquez looked like a small 135. He won becaus of his skills, heart and ability to not get hit flush.

I was shitting on Cal/Jones. But that was a more even fight.

BTW, People say double standard for pac and money. Pac has fought the fighters that the fans wanted him to fight. We got pac/mab, pac/jmm, pac/jmm2, pac/em, pac/em2, pac/hatton.

Floyd has good fighers in his resume. But who wanted to see him fight Gatti, Mitchell, Baldomir, Judah (at the point of his career)? Hoya was a money fight so understandable. Only fight he gave the fans was the Hatton fight. Floyd likes the fights we dont ask for.

Roy Jones was a greater fighter in terms of ability
Manny Pacquiao and Roy Jones are greater fighters in terms of achievement
Jones, Hopkins, Pacquiao, De La Hoya and more are greater in terms of resume

So Jones is the greatest fighter of this era IMO.

I think Pacquiao has the better resumé than De La Hoya... sad as it is for me to say it (he beat all his HOF foes... De La Hoya didn't beat any except JCC- who was shot in the 2nd fight... & Mosley who he did beat in the 2nd but didn't get the decision).
And both De La Hoya & Pacquiao's resumé's are superior to Bernard's...save for the fact that they never defended their status as as a king of a weight division 20 consecutive times!

Jones' achievement of going up through the weights the way he did is greater than how Pacquiao went up through his weights as far as I'm concerned. Look at the size-difference when he fought John Ruiz! (heck, even Tarver!).

Roy Jones became a light-heavyweight because he had cleared out everything below him. But really, he was quite a small light heavyweight.. and would've been right at home @ 168!

Manny on the other hand isn't small for a light-welterweight, and fits there perfectly. While on the other hand, Marquez IS small for a light-welterweight... & can still make 130... while Pacquiao would only be able to make 135 with a grand-old struggle now! Given age, where your body gives up less water the older you get!

Had Jones retired straight after Ruiz.. he would have been considered the undisputed best of his generation (with Pacquiao, Mayweather & Oscar fighting for the positions below him). He was untouched & untroubled his whole career up until that point. Afterwards, he was finished when he had to lose all that lean-mass (his body-size was still one of a slight-framed light-heavy.. but his frame had outgrown 175-range so he had to shed a dangerous amount of muscle... 30+lbs roughly!.. ofcourse he was going to be significantly weakened!).

Letting post-Ruiz RJJ performances tarnish your view of him would be unfair.
Pre-Ruiz Jones destroys everyone in his weight ranges.. EVERYONE.
Calzaghe, Taylor, Froch, Dawson, Tarver....; B-Hop would stylistically have the best shot via bully-tactics. But even he would lose!

I disagree about the weight being a factor. Mayweather walks around at between 150lbs and 155lbs. He is not a natural welterweight and can still make 140lbs. Marquez walks around at between 145lbs and 150lbs. If they weighed in at 140-144lbs, each fighter would weight about 145-150lbs on fight night. If they weighed in at 144lbs, each fighter would weigh about 148-150lbs on fight night. Now that they are fighting at 147lbs, each fighter will weigh between 148lbs and 150lbs on fight night. If Mayweather walked around at 160-170lbs (like most welters) and that is what he would be weighing on fight night, it would definitely be a factor, but that's not the case.

marquez has only fought twice at 135, and never at 140 or 147. who cares about walking weight the fighting weight is what matters. floyd decided to take this fight because he does not take risks. a b### move. he prob wants pac at that weight too because he knows pac is a machine at 140. floyd is too cautious to be considered as great as pac or hopkins.

floyds achievements....5 weight class 6 time champ is just as good as pac and jones achievments. as for resume i'll give you pac and hopkins but not dlh cause he lost his big name fights after trinidad. and jones isn't the same era as PBF, jones is the era before so toooooo yes floyd is the best of this era and when he beats marquez and pac back to back that'll change the resume thing and put him levels above pac.

Jones isn't in the same era as Floyd?! Jones won his 1st title in '93, was p4p#1 when Floyd won his 1st title in '98, was at the top of his game 98-03 when Floyd was in his 130-135 prime, and was still fighting at a high level in '04, whereas Floyd retired in '07.

No, they did not begin their careers in the same year or retire in the same year, but who did? They are clearly from the same era, and Jones is the greater fighter.

Also, Oscar's resume is clearly better (esp when you consider he beat Trinidad and won the second Mosley fight), and Floyd's weight-jumping achievements are not as good as Pac's or Oscar's when you consider Floyd's comp 140-154.
