Mayweather knows he can't do nothing for Joshua. He just trying to get paid like his daddy got paid with Oscar. It's up to AJ. He already got the skills but his heart ain't big as a mustard seed. Soon as he gets clipped real good. His fear is gonna consume him. The only way he beats Usyk is to stop him. He has the power to do that.
Doesn’t matter who’s training him, he doesn’t have enough time to integrate new skills into his repertoire. Usyk is ending AJ’s career next April.
How to keep the smaller man from entering mid-range. Guy was trying to meet Usyk punch to punch, a stupid strategy. Lopez was jabbing hard to the body even when his punches were not landing.
He already knows that and watching Lopez ain't gon do nothing for him. The man who's training him had a far more educated jab than Lopez. I agree that the jab is vital in this fight and I think that at least a third of his training should be dedicated to the education of that left hand. However, it's his mentality that needs the most work. He has no heart. When he gets clipped with a good shot, his whole game plan changes. He needs to learn how to control his fear and work his game plan.
He can, but with some intense sparring and for someone to break it down for him; why X works instead of Y in situation Z and so on..... Most "trainers" are just mitt men who struggle to understand the psychology of it all....and they're mostly older men who dismiss this as "mental voodoo". Someone like Ben Davison or Shane McGuigan would be perfect for Joshua.
This is one of the biggest misunderstandings on the forum. They think that if a former boxer boxed in a certain way, then that is the only way they can train another. Mayweather optimised his own attributes. Maybe he can optimise Joshua's. Joshua can beat Usyk, but likely only by playing Russian Roulette. He will probably need to risk being KO to KO Usyk. Mayweather seems to be a good thinker and he would likely offer any boxer some sort of input worth listening to - but to what extent.
Well said! Those who think Floyd would train a fighter to fight like him don’t understand boxing at all. Floyd did not fight like his Uncle Roger or his Dad Big Floyd. He had his own unique style. Yes he incorporated somethings they did well but his great gift combined with his skills was to be able to adapt on the fly.
It's going to be an excellent year for Dr.No He'll become undisputed after he takes out the trash this april
Shane McGuigan more with his explosive style could be a very good fit. I am not totally convinced by Ben Davison because like Freddie Roach I felt Fury should have stopped Wilder in the first fight because he was the better puncher more skillful with better punch variety.
We shall see soon. One prediction I will make right now is that it is likely that one or both current heavyweight champions will be dethroned this year.
@MarkusFlorez99 apologies forgot my manners to wish you a Happy New Year. We may be on opposite side of some issues but nevertheless I wish you well as gentleman. Hope you saw the New Year in with a blast.
Joshua is an Olympic gold medalist and former 2 times world heavyweight champion. And Usyk is not superman. I don't understand why people think Joshua can never beat Usyk. As I said earlier, who ever trains harder and better will win. It takes only 2 heavy hits to head to disorient Usyk. And Joshua will have high chance of doing this if he trains better and harder for the rematch. On the other hand, maybe Usyk will train better and KO Joshua. We don't know. Maybe one of them will be in one of his bad days on the rematch day and lose because of that. This is heavyweight boxing, 1 heavy punch may change everything no matter how good the other boxer is.
