There are rumors in some boxing sites that the Floyd-Marquez fight will moved to August 8. Here's the unconfirmed news report by an insider named Brad Coney:

"Golden Boy Promotion has to make a major decision this coming weeks for profit reasons. The proposed mega ppv fights between pbf vs. marquez is not selling well not only in tickets but also to the regular boxing sponsors tecate, cervesa and budwieser who doesnt like to back up the fight. Even the MGM grand didn't hold even a single ticket for the fight for their retail selling with hotel accomodation, while before the MGM always wanted to buy all the tickets in any major bout. According to Brad, less than 300 tickets has been sold as of this time. And theres no indication that it will surpass to 1,000 tickets this weekend. A very dismal showing for a mega fight or a ppv fight. So GBP is planning to move the schedule to August 8 and instead of PPV it will be shown for free viewing.

GBP is not new to this problem, in two weeks or three GBP will have a major announcement to move the fight because of injury to either marquez or mayweather as the reason to move the fight. They always done this every time they smell something wrong at the box office."

Is there anyone who can furnish us the status of ticket sales of this fight? We know that big fights like dela Hoya-Pac fight are sold out in2 hours.

it actually makes a lot of business sense. anyone who disagrees with that strategy is clearly stupid.

if they have to cut losses, they have to cut and cut cleanly. market sentiment is one thing that you cannot manipulate to your own will.

dlh pac sold out because the smaller man was the younger man and evened things out. here, jmm is the smaller and older guy to boot.

how the hell can this fight be exciting in terms of odds?

Brad cooney is preempting GBP's next move by making a wild guess because he believes in what the liar bob arum said that "Marquez can't draw a fly". :yep

It's unfair to compare any fight involving Oscar to other fights in terms of sales.

Ha, if this was to happen hopefully Floyd will shut up about money and talk about what he is good at...boxing. Myself I can't understand why people aren't more interested in this fight, sure he isn't facing Cotto/Pac or Mosley but this man arguably beat who we all consider the man who should be facing PBF in Manny Pacquiao. I dunno, I personally think PBF is taking a huge risk, if there is any ring rust at all he could be embarrassed on the grandest stage against a very dangerous opponent, smaller man or not Floyd has been out of the game for a year.

If this is true, this will hurt Floyd's self-proclaimed reputation as the biggest draw in boxing.

well, lets face it. jmm is not really the marquee fighter that fans will follow. he is not a tyson nor a dlh nor to an extent pbf or pac.

and as i have always said, a counterpuncher vs. a counterpuncher will never be a good match-up. dlh-pbf was quite snoozefest in my opinion.

i am quite inclined to believe that ticket sales are very slow for a variety of reasons. top 2 would probably be the recession and the snoozefest that a counterpuncher vs. a smaller counterpuncher offers.

if some fans think that this is a fight between the runner and the waiter, its not really that far off an opinion. and people who claim to be fans of the sweet science can go hang themselves if they insist on the excitement of this fight? they probably get off watching boring fights like some sort of tantric sex or something.

i am not too inclined to believe this. ring rust of not, he could have fought some of the true welters or lww but ask someone 2 weights lower to come up?

and someone older. not really too much of a risk given that the fact that pbf is also a defensive specialist, run, hit, run, hit.

tyson did not fight cruisers or light heavies when he came back after 3.5 years off. its a money fight for jmm, an easy picking for pbf.

    Mayweather-Marquez Fight is Cancelled!

announced that the July 18th bout between Mayweather and Juan Manuel Marquez is OFF. The megafight comeback of former pound for pound king against the undisputed lightweight champion dubbed as "Numero Uno/Number One" was reportedly to have suffered setbacks in negotiating with major sponsors such as tecate and rockstar. The looming cancellation of sponsorship agreements with these two giant companies made the GBP to decide to call it a day for the fight ridiculed by many as "snoozefest festival".

Marquez's camp had sent communication with chris john, who is going to meet rocky juarez on a rematch sometimes in august. Marquez will issue press release next week officially challenging chris john at a catchweight and for a measly $30,000 (again). Mayweather will likewise announce early next week his retirement to the sports.

this is not june fools day.

I don't disagree on any particular point here because I think PBF will beat him quite soundly by UD but this man still gave Pac a run for his money and anyone who can do that is NOT an easy fight.

I know that styles make fights and everyone loves a knock out in the "sweet science" (don't you hate that everyone tries to legitimise there pov by calling it that instead of just boxing as if it is more validating of there opinion), but I genuinely enjoy watching PBF dissect a fighter and punish them over and over again for making any kind of mistake.

I believe these kind of fights are like chess and for two counter punches the weight advantage is not going to be the hugest of advantages (reach almost deffo will but this is true for anyone PBF fights) compared with speed. Floyd makes a good point as well that if Pac wants to jump up the weights to prove himself, when JMM calls him out and wants to do the same thing he should be given the chance because he was the last man to really trouble the giant slayer (Pac man) and is arguably better.
