The American ring icon says he was not surprised by Pacquiao's dismantling of Hatton and accused the Manchester hero of getting his tactics wrong.

He said: "Pacquiao went out there and did what he had to do. Ricky Hatton didn't stick to the game plan, and any fighter can get caught cold in the first couple of rounds. So things happened but we move on."

Why didn't he KO Ricky as quickly as Manny?

"When I fought Ricky Hatton, I had 10-ounce gloves on higher weight class,” He added that he was even on the defensive when he knocked down Hatton,

“When I knocked out Ricky Hatton, I was stepping backwards with 10-ounce gloves,” said Mayweather Jr., who retired undefeated with 39 wins (25 knock outs).

He added: "I don't fight for bragging rights, I did that early in my career. This is now a whole new era of fighters. I'm just here to continue to do what I do and that's to be the best."

Can't help but feel sorry for Mayweather. He's taken a fight against the guy who is considered second best pound for pound in the world (and states that he will fight Pac after this) yet still gets accused of cherry picking. Guess he will never do enough for some.

It's not the opponents it's the terms.

Void is bigger, has his venue, his referee, his judges, his commentators. This is a fake fight.

I think he's a great fighter. You can never say the best ever, but at the moment he's certainly in the top 5, what more do you want from the man?

"I created the blueprint for others to follow. Ricky has gunshot in him, and he could be knocked out again. He has been in some real wars in his career. You can only do that so long. "I think he should call it a day and go out there looking for young fighters for his Hatton Promotions company

“Hatton didn’t stick to the plan, but he hurt Pacquiao in the fight,” Mayweather told setanta.com.
“Any time you see Pacquiao throw his hands up in the air you knows he’s hurt and Ricky caught him with a good shot.
“Pacquiao is a good fighter, but he can be got. He has been knocked-out twice and he has been out-boxed by Erik Morales.”

Ricky didn't hurt ****. Pacquiao stumbled back, it made absolutely no impact on him at all, just like when Mayweather himself was square on to Corley and got punished, he stumbled back but was not hurt.

He's always thrown his hands in the air just to say "you didn't hurt me", its his quirk. I've even seen a few guys copying it lately!
