times have changed. floyd wasn't the first to fight less but still. u can't find 40 opponents that top floyd's 40. Listen just bc you picked a classic boxer doesn't automatically make u a boxing expert. :good

229 wins, only 65 kos, that means he had to out box himself to victory in 164 fights, imagine how many different styles he fought in those 164 fights, from short powerful punchers to tall fast boxers and everything in between, pep was able to out box them all.
tliang your putting to much of an emphisis on these guys small fights, do you really think people will remember floyd for his first ten opponents or for his hardest moments.
peps defense held up for 229 fights, his defense even held up after a near fatal plane crash he even came back to give future hall of famer sandy saddler 4 hard fought battles
peps D is GOAT P4P, thats my opinion

do u prefer first 40 then? Floyd destroys peps opposition even more. I watch enough boxing to know who is better between them two. Head to toes floyd got pep beat in terms of skills and is not even close. only thing pep got over floyd is that he fought more fighters. If you take floyd currently and put him in the past he would **** everyone that pep fought. I have no doubt. "thats my opinion"

didnt you your self say in an earlier post say there isnt that much footage of pep, so how can you actually be so sure. floyds one of the all time greats as well, dont get me wrong, but its hard for me to envision floyd being able to hold his defence for as many fights as willie did, i just dont see it.

Floyd's defense shine in the amatuers and pro. I saw enough of pep's PRO vids and they are not impressive. He dangles his hand to push away punches and runs and duck. main 3 moves. over and over again and against people throwing wide and looping shots. impressive? yea if you don't watch much boxing. Pep knows how to defend. I give him that but very overated. floyd wouldn't even need defense against 80 percent of pep's opposition. I know it sounds mean but just take a look at his rec of long list of bums.

also i think boxing was different back then, it wasnt the sleek glamorous show biz sport it is now, it was more of a blue collar affair with people fighting from paycheck to pay check, look at a lot of old school greats, im sure youll find a lot of tomato cans on a lot of there records

Mayweather. He fought Gatti and Baldomir and he looked like superman doing so.

people who bragged about pep's vast amount of pro fights should factor in that floyd probably have a much better amatuer background against nationwide/worldwide competition. Fighting in the olympics against the best in different countries. Those amatuers are probably better than the cans pep was beating up.

How many have u? I seen everything i could find on the net, which is probably everything u have seen too as well. So answer ur own question man. Prime pep fought bums. like i said. you can look pep's first 40, second 40, 3rd 40 and etc. you have to probably his entire career to put up 40 fighters in floyd's opponent's caliber. All i see are bunch of guys with no record, bums and a handful of decent record fighters and a handful of good fighters (i hope)

I've only seen one fight of Pep in his prime, against Ralph Walton - but I'm not the guy making claims about Pep's defensive capabilities when all I've seen is pretty much past prime footage with the exception of one fight with shitty slowed down tracking.

So, if we are to take your opinion seriously, you'll have to base it on something a bit more solid than 'everything I could find on the net'.

So, I'll ask again, what have you seen of prime Pep for us to take your learned opinion seriously and not laugh you out of the general forum, which is a joke in and of itself?

Sandy Saddler is someone better than Floyd has even fought. Pep fought him 4 times when past his best.

Sammy Angott is a fighter about as good as a PRIME DLH. Again, someone better than Floyd Mayweather has even fought.

Manuel Ortiz is a fighter better than anyone Floyd's fought as well.

Then you have guys like Paddy DeMarco and Willie Joyce, better lightweights than Castillo and Corrales.

And please tell me, how much do you know about guys like Chalky Wright, Sal Bartolo, Phil Terranova, Jimmy McAllister, Humberto Sierra, Jock Leslie, Eddie Compo, Ray Famechon and Charley Riley to be dismissing them as if they are nothing?
