    http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/ot...says-Manny-Pacquiaos-coach-Freddie-Roach.html

Freddie Roach, Manny Pacquiao's coach, says he could have improved Floyd Mayweather as a boxer.

"I would have liked to train Floyd. He makes so many mistakes. He's gifted but he makes a lot of mistakes," Roach told The Telegraph.

"He rolls but he doesn't counter. He doesn't come back with what that roll created. Those are things that Eddie Futch taught me but I wasn't talented enough to do that."
    ......................

being 6x trainer of the year, he has the credibility to say it.

I swear Roach is begging Floyd to turn on the style LOL

Roach is like that little kid saying his brother can kick the bullies ass, and the brother is like, " shut up, you're going to get me killed " LOL

Roach is a good trainer, but vastly overrated imo. He's an offensive trainer, but as far as technique, he isn't near the best. I dont think he has a phenomenal ring iq. James Toney learned much of what he knows from Bill Miller. Virgil Hunter learned in the amateurs. Don't get me wrong, Freddie is a Futch protege and is a top notch trainer, I just feel his status is a bit overblown.

Nah, Floyd has a granite chin.

I never said Roach was a bad trainer, he's one of the best. Doesn't mean he fits with everyone.

But was he only trainer of the year because he had the best fighter of the last generation under him? Nacho Beristain and Emanuel Steward always struck me as better trainers. Freddie Roach had Khan and Linares under his tutelage and they both got repeatedly knocked out. They stop training under him, and they stop getting knocked out. Meanwhile, Pacquiao got knocked out.

This suggests, to me anyway, that Freddie is good at teaching the offensive side of boxing but not so good at the defensive side. Floyd Mayweather is a master of defensive boxing but has no real offense. Who knows if you can take a guy with Floyd's natural athleticism and train him to be just as good offensively, or well rounded, or if being a great defensive fighter is the best possible style for him? Obviously though, there's no arguing with the results him and his uncle have had over the years.
