Floyd Jr's Aura of Invincibility possibly stronger than Prime Tyson/Chavez/Roy Jones?

Nah I don't think so.Floyd has a different aura than Tyson and RJJ,those guys could knock you the **** out,and won fights in devestating factor which prolly made guys not wanna **** with them

With Floyd its more of a you don't truly respect his skills until you see them in the ring for yourself,like floyd said a lot of fighters see things while watching his fights,but don't realize its different when your facing him.With Floyd its more of a who can solve this puzzle and beat this guy kind of aura,totally different from tyson and rjj

 

I agree. The situation is a bit different. In Tyson's case, only Holyfield and maybe Ruddock were seen as having any kind of chance. Earlier, that included Spinks, but that was it.
The pickings were pretty slim, on paper at least.

In Floyd's case, there is a certain someone (ahem) who can quite possibly beat him.
Floyd's damn good, but very few are really calling him invincible.

 

Nah, I remember being a kid and year after year reading about Chavez and thinking he could go on forever without losing. Guy reached 89-0! And Tyson, don't even want to go there, there is no comparison, he had the ultimate aura of invincibility about him, especially after his biggest win obliterating Spinks.

Roy Jones' aura was less respected than those guys, people questioned his level of opposition alot in his prime. Internet had a lot to do with that, people couldn't express such opinions on a global scale when Tyson and Chavez were at their best. So Mayweather is only comparable to Jones because he's in the same boat, Jones' aura was still greater at his awesome best.

Mayweather arguably already lost to Castillo anyway, I guess that was his Griffin I, except it can be seen as a real loss not just an unlucky stumble

I would say so..even in their primes the other fighters were exciting and as such left them more open and had their troublesome moments whilst mayweather is safety first and has had relatively little scares in the ring.

Also mayweather fights so rarely so theres only like one oportunity for him to be beat in 1-1.5 years .. the other fights were much more active

 

Tyson and RJJ were up there with Michael Jordan in terms of aura. Tyson just prior to his prison sentence everyone thought he was unbeatable not because he was a good boxer but because of the way he was winning.

Fights weren't even lasting longer than 3 minutes. Usually the first clean punch Tyson landed was the end of the fight. On top of it, it was just the attitude of that late 80s early 90s era and Mike Tyson personified everything about that era in terms of swagger and thug mentality. He looked like a thug in boxing gloves, talked like a thug and he wasn't just acting like a thug for ratings he literally was a street thug just like Edwin Valero.

I think Edwin Valero was the most feared boxer since Tyson but he went crazy and offed himself. Ibeabuchi had that aura Tyson had and he's never being released from prison. RJJ had the aura of Tyson after his Ruiz fight but didn't capitalize on it.

I think Floyd because he took so many breaks in between and seems to be ducking Pacquiao no one is going to give him the coolness factor. He might be the smartest boxer of all time in terms of business and marketing acumen but he's not the most feared of his era. I'd say Edwin Valero and Paul Williams were among the most feared. When Paul Williams was chewing everyone up and spitting them out, not even Floyd wanted to fight him. Edwin Valero was feared both inside the ring and outside the ring, no one would step up to him even when he was clearly abusing his wife.

It's because of the way Tyson and Jones would beat people. No one could touch them. Tyson was beating champions in seconds and just completely obliterating them, and Jones was doing the same thing and was untouchable in the ring.

Mayweather just didn't have the sort of handspeed or KO power of a Tyson or a Jones to be exciting. With guys like Tyson any punch and the fight could be over and the same could be said about Jones. The fight could end whenever Jones wanted it to end in any way he wanted it to end.

Mayweather typically outsmarts his opponent and adapts to his opponent but just hasn't really dominated any of the elite level opponents. He wins but he doesn't win in the sort of fashion where people are terrified to be in the ring with him. When Jones knocked out Griffin with that leaping uppercut or broke Virgil Hills rib with that body shot at that period of time every boxer all the way up to heavyweight was afraid of Jones.

George Foreman was talking about how Jones was punching guys so hard that their bodies were being lifted off the ground. That is the kind of power George Foreman had in his prime at heavyweight. When Jones moved up to heavyweight and was able to hurt Ruiz at that moment people believed whether true or not that Jones could do the same thing to Wlad and Vitali and whoever else.

 

Not even his own shadow is afraid of Mayweather much less other fighters. Tyson on the other hand scared almost everyone except Douglas, Holyfield who just laughed at him when Tyson tried the staredown, and Lewis.

NO. Tyson was a HW and HW are still KING. Just because you are labled the best P4P fighter (under 200 pounds), doesn't mean you are seen as invincible to everybody since you are still not the HW Champion (which is the overall best in the game).

If Floyd continues to move up, he will lose. That takes away from the invincibility label. We know a lot of fighters will beat him if he were to fight the best in boxing without regard to weight class. The HW Champion, nobody in the game is higher. He is KING.
