Does anyone have any info (interviews, pics, etc)on Cummings or where I can get it? Last I heard he was incarcerated under a 3 strikes rule so he is in jail for life. The only thing I heard about him was he was a huge guy with an incredible physique, took Frazier to a draw and lost to Mitch Blood Green. Any help is much appreciated.

Jumbo Cumstain wasn't much to get excited about from what I'm told. At best, he was one of your tougher trial hoarses around 1980-82. From what I understand, his fight with a young Bruno, at his prospect stage, was something to be remembered. Apparently Bruno was out on his feet at one point, and Terry Lawless ( Bruno's trainer ) had to stear him back to his corner, and work hastily to revive him. Frank came out for I believe the 8th round, and managed to put together a win.

Cummings almost scored a 1st round KO.
If he had connected with that shot a few seconds earlier Bruno would have been stopped. Luckily for Bruno the bell prevented the finishing shot being delivered.

That was one of the funniest things I ever saw in a boxing ring. 5' Lawless trying to drag Bruno back to the corner at the end of the first.

It also led the Harry Carpenter line

"Oh no, it is Cummings all over again!"

When the Bonecrusher caught Bruno the following year. Except Bonecrusher finished the job... eventually

I first heard of him when a boxing magazine did article on him while he was still in jail. He was 300 pounds, all muscle, at time. It was a magazine other than Ring Magazine. He was bodybuilder/boxer in prison, and article was written not too much before his release, so that may help you find it. Good luck.

He also bit Renaldo Snipes on the arm during a fight.

    And not only once.

I also recall that Cummings wasn't too shy with the headbuttts or low blows in that one either, and even with this faded memory of mine, that fight still stands out today as one of the dirtiest performances that I saw during that time.

But besides that fight with Snipes, Cummings may be most famous for allegedly dropping Ron Lyle for the count in a prison match the two had around 1970, but info on that rumoured fight is tough to come by so I don't know if it was true or not.
