But macklin, just an odd choice of fighter. That would get the ppv buys :)

tbh I think it is ridiculous to expect mayweather to go in against a fully fledged MW, only way I could see it happening is if cotto beats martinez for the lineal.

the word is Mayweather v Khan is very close....i for 1 think it will be a good fight and Khan will give him more problems than Canelo or Guerrero put togethher!!! Mayweather fights generate so much money i suppose the contracts take a while to finalise??
i also think Pac being back on the scene may have put a spanner in the works though

another berto-level fight, inline with ortiz, guererrro, drainelo.

floyd will carry kwhnan a few rounds to make khan supporters, whatever left of them, feel good.

Danny Garcia vs. (any solid Golden Boy WW*)
Brook vs. (any solid Golden Boy WW*)
    Wilder vs. (anybody)

    * = Porter, Alexander, Thurman, Malignaggi, Ortiz, Karass

That would be a great and logical undercard for me. Jhonny/Mares II in an ideal world but I feel that will sell out Staples Center itself so they'll headline that separate.

Mayweather-Khan lost any steam(or legitimacy) it may have had when Amir decided to bypass the Alexander fight. Now, GBP is gonna need 4 FOTY candidates on the undercard just to come close to the PPV numbers that the Canelo fight did, LOL.

Fight never had steam. As a Mayweather fan, this fight is pure garbage. I'd much rather him fight Danny Garcia, he's as ready as he will ever be. This fight will be a ppv disaster, as there is no way to sell it.

Marquez was a tune up after 2 years off
    Everyone wanted the Mosley fight
Ortiz was a young hungry lion
Cotto was a fight everyone wanted to see
Guerrero was the first fight after jail
    Everyone wanted Canelo(obviously)

But this fight, it's just not sell-able. Sure, Khan has speed, but not even the general public will believe he has a chance. I buy almost every boxing ppv, but I won't buy it, unless the undercard is stacked to the ceiling. Broner-Maidana, Garcia-Matthysee, Santa Cruz, etc.

This fight is crap, and I think GBP/Showtime know it. Nobody wants this fight. The ****ed up thing is both Mayweather and Pacquiao are free right now, and available to fight each other. BS.

Espinoza must be shitting his pants at the absurdity of the Mayweather/Pac situation. So much cash to be had and Floyd and Arum are just creating obstacles all over the place. Meanwhile, he has to guarantee Floyd another $40 mil.

Tell you this, I hope they aren't expecting to see any more cash grabs after the Canelo fight, because Floyd isn't going to make the Pac fight period, and he runs the risk losing money for Showtime by making soft PPV numbers like the Guerrero fight.

You know, maybe he will be forced into that fight if the ppv bombs in May, unless Thurman or Lara become good enough opponents by September. It's obvious and undeniable that Mayweather doesn't want the fight with Pacquiao. I won't say he's scared, but he has been able to not fight his toughest opponent and make much more money than by fighting him. This scenario makes perfect business sense.

The Paquiao-Mayweather fight would have been the highest grossing fight of all time. Lets say that it sold 3 million ppvs(which is not too far fetched) at $75, which is $225 million(1/2 goes to cable). They would probably each be guaranteed 30-40 million. The ppv share on the back end would probably net them each another 5-10 million each. Of course there are other revenue sources, like international rights, merchandise, etc.

Lets say they each ended up with $50-65 million. They would have been risking their unbeatable aura for one or two paydays. We know that for at least one of these stars, a loss means a sudden crash in popularity.

Fighting Pacquiao probably would have made Mayweather $100-150 million(assuming a rematch). Not fighting Pacquiao, Mayweather made upwards of $300 million. He got to dictate the terms to all of his opponents as they were lucky to win the "Mayweather lottery", as opposed to sharing the ring with his equal. Losing would have meant certain loss in revenue, and unpredictable future ppv sales. His marketability, which is threaded to his perfect record, would have been doomed.

It was a smart business move. As a fan it sucks though. The fact that Mayweather is throwing comical obstacles in front of the Pacquaio fight is a testament to how competitive this fight will be, even after that KO loss. It's still the most intriguing fight in boxing imo.

No matter who Floyd fights, theer will always be the naysayers that have a complaint about the fight. Someone suggested a catchweight, why when he just got crucified for fighting at 152 for Canelo. Garcia, is a very good fighter, but do you really think it would be better than Khan. Styles makes fights. Do you guys remember that Khan used to train and spar with Pac and it used to be hell between the both. So it's ok for mayweather to fight Pac but not ok for him to fight Khan. So so hypocritcal. Khan's speed just like Zab's can bother Floyd for a couple of rounds until Floyd figures him out.

Mayweather can fight all these guys, Khan, garcia, Matthyse ( remember him the guy everyone was mayweather was ducking) Lol, you fans are ****ing crazy
