lets get realistic first , he was supposed to look good. Was anybody actaully picking Ortiz to win? This is the same guy who just a few fights ago was getting outboxed and beaten up by Lamont Peterson. Maybe that should put things into perspective for some people around here. That said, Floyd did put on a good performance and he actually impressed me a little bit. You heard it here from Tasco. Floyd showed a lot of versatility in there, and for the first time in maybe forever I finally saw him throw combinations :admin. I might have even saw a 4-5 punch combination in there. Maybe he's been reading my posts. He countered well, he boxed, and his speed and timing were good for the most part. He simply looked like a much better fighter in there then the potshotting, hit and run fighter that he was back few years ago. With all that said , I still see Pacquiao giving him problems. If Floyd doesn't learn to move his feet latterally, and stop freaking out and running backwards or going into a shell everytime he gets hit, pac is going to beat him up and possibly knock him out. My prediction for that fight remains the same, but I think it'll be a very interesting back and forth fight with both guys having their moments. I don't think Floyd will withstand the heat that Pac's gonna bring tho.
I agree. Floyd looked much better than I expected. Lots of offense, a few good combinations. - but Pac will destroy him. His defense is too good. (now) Floyd won't have a stationary target in front of him. And Floyd is superb at avoiding most fighters, except they mostly come straight at him. Manny will attack from the sides & with hooks all night, and Floyd's not as good at moving sideways as he is moving back. Plus, when moving sideways to avoid a hook, it's a LOT harder to counterpunch. Well, who knows? It's fun to speculate. One thing for sure: A week ago I thought Pac-Mayweather was a snoozeful concept, that Pac would completely dominate & Floyd would run for 12 boring rounds. After Floyd's performance Saturday, I think he's at the top of his game, and the Pac fight should be incredible.
if this was ortiz vs. pac it would of been a lot closer. ortiz's size would of gave pac problems. floyd stood right in front victor most of the fight and as the fight got closer to end, floyd was the aggressor. floyds defense is so good that he can fight a guy straight up if he has too. pac does not have that advantage.
No Floyd looked like an old man http://www.eastsideboxing.com/forum/showthread.php?t=343490 of all things to pick why Floyd won't beat pac, you picked this? :huh
floyd's defense is so good that he doesn't fight Pac. "Keep yourself protected at all times". Even when there is no scheduled fight. Poor Floyd.
Pac would have knocked Ortiz out within 3 rounds buddy. Ortiz is way too over aggressive and open to be hit. He's tailor made for Pacquiao.
:good Victor and Pacquiao are SOUTH PAWS and other than maybe power that's where the comparison ends. There was no real lateral movement. He was stiff like the Pretty One had stuff his dick in there already. And he was slow of foot. The first three rounds I didn't know if Ortiz thought it was Halloween yet, because he looked confused sometimes. He was thinking like should I be a tree or a punching bag... :think This content is protected This content is protected hmmm... :hey
Yes. Perhaps you haven't noticed, but Pac's defense has gotten noticeably better with each of his last 3-4 fights. Pay attention!
That was a gut reaction b balls , and I watched the fight on a shitty feed while at work. I just watched it in HD today so I got a better analysis.
:good fair enough, I did the same thing myself. My first reaction wasn't that good either, but I was much mor eimpressed after rewatching it
 You actually impressed me a little bit, too. Yea, Floyd has shown different stuff in his last two fights and that's very interesting. But although some people think that Ortiz was going to give him problems as the fight went on, I am pretty sure that Mayweather was off to a shut-out or even a possible late TKO. Ortiz was getting tagged all night with that right and at some point it would take its toll, I believe. People got fooled by the two or three moments where Ortiz had Floyd on the ropes, but he was missing badly. For example, in the sequence right before the headbutt where Ortiz got Floyd's back on the ropes, Ortiz actually landed ONE clear shot while he attempted TEN. And of course Pacquiao is going to give Floyd problems if they fight. That's a given. Pac is relentless, very fast and has proved that he can take a good shot without blinking. That's why everyone wants to see this fight in the first place. What I have a problem with is with people that claim they're absolutely certain that Pac will beat Floyd if they ever meet. Noone can be sure about what the hell will happen if those two ever meet, and Mayweather will easily be the best fighter Pac has ever faced. This of course is true for Mayweather too, but my point is that Floyd hasn't showed that many or that big flaws that someone can guarantee a Pac win at this point.
