Not in Nevada. Its the most tax frienddly state (along with Deleware, I think). Thats probaly why Floyd lives there and always fights there.
And? If there's no middle man for Mayweather why should it effect his ability to make a fight with Pac? Top Rank can do the promoting, Floyd negotiates a good take as he's been negotiating with Golden Boy. Problem is Floyd is probably tied in with Golden Boy. They wouldn't list him as one of their fighters if he wasn't contractually signed to them. They've made a hell of a lot of money from having Floyd fight their fighters the past 5 fights, and have another proposed bout coming up with Khan. There's your middle man.
Couldn't the same thing be said about Pac? Except that Pac fights twice a year instead of once every 1.5 yrs?
Floyd hires Golden Boy,they work for him and so their cut is not as much as what Arum gets.Floyd once said Manny needs to sort his affairs first.WHy? If this fight generate $100m,Floyd gets $50m but Manny can not get $50m.His deal with Arum will not allow that. For Manny to get $50m,Floyd will have to lose a lot of money because Arum has to have his cut.Arum gets paid then he pays Manny what's left.Arum makes more than Manny. so the result would end up being 70-30 in favour of Manny.THis could be the reason why Arum doesnt want this fight to happen,he knows he will be exposed.Mathematically it's impossible to guarantee a 50-50 purse if Arum is in charge because Arum has a contract with Manny which guarantees him a certain %age. Remember Mayweather had to leave arum for him to be able to fight DelaHoya and make some money.Same thing with Khan,Calzaghe and Hatton leaving ****** for them to start making money.Promoters can guarantee say $1m to their fighter to fight a certain fighter.Once %ages are mentioned that fight can not be made unless the promoter forgoes their cut the way Arum did in the Pacquiao-Hatton fight.A fight can only generate so much money and if it's big the fighters need a bigger share. If Fighters get rid of their promoters they get paid gross fees. They then hire someone to do the promotion (which is less money because the guy's now working for the fighters not vice versa)
Arum takes his % from what Pac is paid. If he's taking 30% Pac still gets gauranteed 50 million. If he's taking 10%, Pac's gets 50 million. Pac's the one that loses money. It should not effect anything. Maybe before it did so, when Top Rank were obligated to pay Golden Boy a % of what they made from Pac (might have something to do with your claim Arum gave up his cut for the Hatton fight). And Top Rank would take from the fight whatever is negotiated, as Golden Boy do. They certainly don't work for free as Floyd's perpetuated lies would have you believe.
A 50-50 purse split is impossible as long as Arum is in charge of Manny. This explains why Arum was quick to sign Clottey to fight Manny.Top Rank have margins to protect.Manny's in a harvest stage of his product life cycle,he's their cash cow and Top Rank will not allow their cash cow to fight for less money. The other issue is that Manny's sold as pound for pound king, when Floyd beats him he has nothing else to talk about. The revenue streams will suffer. The rewards to make this fight have to be so good to offset the risk of getting beat. Arum makes more money having only his fighter fighting Manny.Anyone who fights Manny will probably have to sign with Top Rank that way Top Rank makes money from both boxers.Mosley and Marquez had to do that otherwise the fights would be mathematically impossible to make. When Arum promotes the fight,no percentages are mentioned.Arum will just offer Manny $7.5m and his opponent a $5m then keeps the rest which will be over $50m.That way Arum is happy.
Same goes for Floyd right? The only thing he has going for him is his 0. It's certainly not his charming personality and role model status. When Manny beats him he has nothing else to talk about. The revenue streams will suffer. The rewards to make this fight have to be so good to offset the risk of getting beat. That's why we've heard rumors of Floyd asking for $100mil. Are you what they call a *****? Who only see through his Floyd color glasses and doesn't realize your argument can go both ways?
